Hey seafood junkies, have you tried Cabe Ijo yet? This restaurant serves live seafood with local and international flavor. As we know, Batu Tulis Street has been the mecca for Jakarta’s seafood lovers for decades. Cabe Ijo has two branches, the other one is in Muara Karang area. While I opted for the Pecenongan branch, the look is somewhat familiar. Cooking area and market-like seafood display in the front, complete with the live fishes in the aquarium. The indoor is equiped with AC (Thank God) and the restaurant is humbly furnished and decorated. The menu is mainly Chinese/Asian style, with the choice of rice/Mantau bread as the carbs.
Chili Crab (IDR 223.460): Crab with spicy Singaporean style sweet and savory sauce. The crab was pretty big, lots of meat and really tasty sauce.
Alu Alu Fish (IDR 90.000): Grilled Barracuda with green chili sauce. This fish has the most soft and easy to eat-meat, freshly prepared with delicious hot chili topping.
Squid in Thai Sauce (IDR 55.000): Grilled squid with sweet and spicy Thai sauce. The squid was fresh but a little undercooked for my liking.
Pakis Ebi (IDR 29.900): Wild fern sauteed with dried shrimps. Delicious, crunchy, salty and all good.
Mantao Bread (IDR 37.500): Three pieces of fried Mantao (Chinese bread).
Cabe Ijo didn’t disappoint and if you’re looking for fresh, good for your wallet type of seafood, Cabe Ijo is the place to be.
