Chef Andre Peresthu is on a roll. After the success of Atico, Daun Muda and Warung Bakmie Mpek Tjoen to name a few, the Javanegra chef opened another new venture in Menara Astra Building. He’s also keeping it real with Planta (meaning “Plant” in Spanish). Focusing on what he does best: Indonesian and Spanish authentic menu.

The interior of the restaurant itself is considerably basic and very typical Chef Peresthu, and I mean it in a good way: sleek, earthy, and laid back. The way most of all of us look for in an eatery. Every corner serves it purpose and never gone wasted. The open bar and kitchen are also nicely fitted in the minimal area.

I’ve always admire Chef Peresthu’s taste, so let’s get to the good stuff!

Tapas:

Calamari Fritos

Calamari Fritos (IDR 45.000): Deep fried delicious calamari with salsa verde.

Gambas Al Pil Pil

Gambas Al Pil Pil (IDR 45.000): Sautéed garlic and parsley shrimps. Very strong taste, I like it but might be too salty for others. Best to be eaten with baguette.

Chipirones Negrito

Chipirones Negrito (IDR 45.000): Sautéed calamari with blank ink and garlic. I wasn’t a fan of this one, cause of the feather bones still attached in them, but flavor wise, it’s good.

After the delicious Tapas, I moved over to the main dishes.

Bife Ancho Steak

Bife Ancho Steak (IDR 400.000): Aged rib-eye 45 days/280gr Australian Beef with two kind of sauces. Perfectly cooked beef, seasoned well, served with marvelous sauces!

Paella Del Mar

Paella Del Mar (IDR 150.000): What’s Spanish food without a Paella?! This rice dish was authentic, with fresh ingredients and succulent rice.

Tuetanos Asados

Tuetanos Asados (IDR 155.000): Grilled bone marrow with onio confit and salsa verde. Gorgeous presentation on a juicy dish.

Last but not least are the Indonesian selection:

Sate Maranggi Wagyu

Sate Maranggi Wagyu (IDR 150.000): Kerawang style Beef satay with green Sambal. The salty Sambal gave compliments to the yummy savory satay. Wow!

Nasi Goreng Ikan Asin

Nasi Goreng Ikan Asin (IDR 75.000): The one local dish that most of us can’t live without, with the Chef’s touch of Biryani rice, Borneo salty fish, fresh petal with fresh green chili Sambal and emping. Super spicy and salty, and I was hooked!

I left Planta with plenty to think about. One that stood out – how wonderful the experience was. I was too full but wanted more at the same time. Good job Chef! Looking forward to more of this.
