In terms of the bold combination of spicy, tangy and savory, Thai food is probably the most similar and well accepted Asian cuisine, in Indonesia, flavor wise.  Tjitlada group is a well known restaurant company that has brought us Thai food for many many years. Their new addition, So Thai, is the freshest one yet, just opened in Plaza Indonesia. I’ve always been a big fan of their restaurants from Tjitlada, Chandara, the White Elephant. So Thai has a familiar feeling about it. Very beautiful, elegant and brightly decorated as far as eyes can see. One of the joy of spending your meal time there is also the many eye candy you can spot. Like the wall murals, the knick knacks and decorations on the wall, all represents the soul of the food origin, Thailand.

Tod Man Pla (IDR 75.000): Light curry flavored fish cakes. Nice bouncy texture and flavor.

Yam Goong Foo Mamuang Sod (IDR 70.000): Deep fried minced prawns with spicy mango salad. The prawns were bland but when you mixed it with the sweet and sour mango salad underneath, you’ll get the point.

Poo Nim Yam Som O (IDR 65.000): Spicy Pomelo salad with fried soft shell crabs. Always love this combination of tangy pomelo and crisp seafood.

Mad Ke Yao Pad Pla Kem (IDR 55.000): Fried eggplant with garlic, anchovy, soy bean and minced chicken. This didn’t look that appetizing but surprisingly delectable.

Goong Op Wunsen (IDR 95.000): Baked prawns with vermicelli, black mushrooms, spring onion, Chinese celery and garlic. Served in a lovely claypot, this dish was savory and fragrantful.

Lod Chong (IDR 50.000): Hawker style Thai dessert with sticky black rice, pandan flavored rice flour droplets, taro and sweetened coconut cream syrup.

So Thai’s food was wonderful but nothing really different in comparison to Chandara’s. I love every single dish and looking forward for the addition of something new and exciting to the menu.
