Tangerang area has a massive culinary list to visit, but rarely really good – worth your money – kind of Italian eatery around. At least that’s what I thought before I found Sale Italian Ristorante. There’s nothing special about this place’s look from the outside, as it blended with the other ‘ruko’ or shophouse in the area. But walking into Sale, you can almost picture yourself being in other place than Serpong, especially the more spacey second floor, both the open kitchen, the furniture and the small decorations speaks out Italian so boldly. It also feels so homey that you enjoy all the time you spend dining there. The friendly staffs and the hands-on Italian chef also treats you like you’re their number one customer. FYI on the chef’s resume is La Luce SCBD restaurant’s chef. As some of you -Italian food lovers- know, La Luce has been closed for years, but like many memorable restaurants that I’ve visited, I still remember La Luce’s fantastic food. This is part of the reason that I’m really excited to taste Sale’s version.
I started with Gamberi e Avocado (IDR 72.000): Poached tiger prawns, avocado guacamole on polenta crisp. Delicious shrimp, sour and tangy guacamole, crispy polenta cracker. Yummy.
Pasta & Main Course:
Here’s an insider tip: if you know what’s good for you, you won’t skip this pasta 👉🏻
Paccheri ai Fruitti di mare (IDR 90.000): Large Penne with selected seafood cooked in the jar. The seafood aroma is contained and therefore absorbed on the pasta. This is a fantastic dish from the presentation to
the taste. Fragrant, deep flavorful sauce and nicely done large tube pasta.
Risotto ai Gamberi (IDR 80.000): Risotto with tiger prawn, basil and cherry tomatoes. Large plate of rich creamy risotto. The rice was a little overcooked for me but the rest was awesome.
Milanese di Maiale (IDR 125.000): Breaded pork chop, tomato concasse, potato wedges. Tender pork meat with crisp breaded coating.
Salciccia e Funghi (IDR 70.000): Pizza with homemade sausage, mushrooms, mozzarella and tomato. Thin crispy pizza dough, the toppings were superb, a little wet in the middle but overall a delicious dish.
Asparagi and Pancetta (IDR 85.000): Mozzarella, tomato, pork bacon, asparagus and parmesan cheese.
La Luce (IDR 150.000): Mozzarella, Brie, Gorgonzola, truffle oil and arugula. A walk down the La Luce restaurant memory lane and their signature pizza of simple but amazingly executed cheese pizza with truffle oil. The cheeses melted in my mouth and I couldn’t get enough of it. Yum!
Trionfo di Dessert (IDR 150.000): A dessert tray of six selection: Tiramisu, Meringue, Italian chocolate cream puffs, Biscuit dessert with the name of Baicoli (if I’m not mistaken), Crema Bruciata (Italian creme brulee), and something that resembles Lemon Pie. The dessert was mostly delicious, a great mix for a large party.
The trip to Sale Italian Ristorante was a dream come true for me, the food was nothing short of spectacular and diners will appreciate the simplicity of Italian cuisine done right. At least one diner from Jakarta think so. 😊
