I would not consider a trip to Bali without culinary hunt of good pastries or desserts as worthy Bali vacation at all. It has become mandatory for me as my love for patisserie grew each year. As French patisserie is renowned for its quality pastry products, I inserted a visit to one such joint on my day trip to Canggu area.
The place is called Poule De Luxe, managed by Mr. Mathieu Leguern as both owner as well as pastry chef of this comfy tiny patisserie. Observing the products showcased at the counter, I was immediately attracted to the rows of Cream Puffs (IDR 20k each) with different coloured toppings, which I assumed representing different flavours. I ordered two flavour to try, as well as some Macarons (IDR 25k each) and other bakery item, like Lemon Pie (IDR 40k).
Everything was meeting my expectation for a good patisserie product. The texture of the cream puffs, macarons, and the pie base were good with balance of crunchiness and softness. The taste of the fillings was spot on as they were not too sweet.
In fact, I loved the cream puff so much that I had a box of 6 puffs with different flavours for take away to accompany us to Canggu. I would surely love to visit Poule De Luxe on my hopefully next “coming soon” trip to Bali.
