If there is one restaurant that I have to choose as one of my long time favourite, it would be Loewy. I have always enjoyed my visit to Loewy from its first year of inception. There is something there that I did not quite find in any other restaurant. Still located at Oakwood Premier Cozmo building, right by the entrance to the compound, Loewy by The Union Group provides seating both indoors with its retro/classic interior of modern New York City, as well as ‘smoking section’ outdoors.
The vibe here is casual yet elegant, creating a favourite hang out spot for many. I feel that the interior team behind Loewy really nailed it in devising such balanced atmosphere in the restaurant for any meal time whether it is breakfast, lunch or even late supper. A feat not easily accomplished by most designer.
I believe many of you have already been there so you should know what I mean. If, by any chance, you have not, I would implore you to at least visit it once to understand what I am trying to convey.
This last visit to Loewy brought me to try a few of their special menu that was recently launched. I did not get a chance to try all of the menu, but I posted the photos anyway just so you know its presentation.
Chicken and Avocado Salad (IDR 95k) – with wasabi dressing.
Tuna Carpaccio with kaffir lime aioli and aragula (IDR 70k) – Drizzled with a bit of juice from the lemon, and you will have yourself a refreshing yet fulfilling raw tuna carpaccio. If I don’t have to share it with my brunch companions, I would surely finish it all by myself.
Brisket Sandwich (IDR 150k) – with caramelized onions, horseradish aioli, frites.
Lamb Fricassee with braised potatoes, carrots and peas (IDR 180k) – The lamb was tender and seasoned well. I would order it again for lunch or even dinner.
Roasted Duck with Hoisin Sauce (IDR 110k)
Cotton Cheese Cake with blueberry compote and lemon cream (IDR 70k) – Lovely presentation. I love the soft texture of the cheesecake. The blueberry compote and the lemon cream gave a nice addition to the overall taste of the cake.
Pot De Creme (IDR 55k) – with chocolate & caramel custard, chocolate ganache, crumble. Between the two, I would prefer the caramel custard one. But both could be considered nice and proper desserts.
This egg benedict and the rest of the menu below was ordered from their regular menu.
Egg Benedict (IDR 80k) – two poached eggs and danish beef ham on toasted english muffins, topped with hollandaise sauce and side of fries.
Ricotta Pancakes (IDR 70k)
Honi-Honi (IDR 145k) – gold rum, hazelnut liqueur, riesling wine, angostura bitters, fresh lime juice, cinnamon syrup and grapes. I love the tropical-style presentation of this cocktail drink. The blend of ingredients was spot on, giving a refreshing sweet and a hint of sourness taste.
