Strolling around Downtown LA is always fun. The City of Angels has its own charm and never ending sublime culinary choices. I’ve heard about Bottega Louie restaurant from a local friend, this supposedly hip and happening place sparks my interest right away.

One thing to remember when you’re in the area, most restaurants have no parking and only Valet service, so you’ll have to go to the nearest public parking. In my case I found the nearest office building and just park there for a fee of $7.00.

First impression, really big restaurant,with separated pastry shop. Large cakes,cookies and macaroons got me drooling, but I came here for the dining, so I went right ahead and got a table without reservation. Bottega Louie has a very lively athmosphere, loud, busy and spacious. The eatery is pretty much a white pillars building with high ceiling.

Arugula Salad ($15.00): Arugula, red onions, Parmigiano Reggiano, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and pepper. Light, simple but yummy salad with excellent quality ingredients.

Linguine Fungi ($ 20.00): Spinach linguine, mushroom ragu, wilted greens, caramelized fennel and porcini brodo. This vegetarian pasta was a little bland for my taste. But the noodle was velvety, the sauce was fragrant and delicious mushrooms too.

Pomodoro ($20.00): Spaghetti, Roma tomatoes, basil, Grana Padano, basil oil. Al dente pasta, loving the strong taste of the tomato based sauce. Delicious!


Chocolate Souffle ($16.00): Fluffy and crunchy outside, warm and soft in the middle, the souffle was delicious in everyway. Love the custard like sauce too.

I was impressed with Bottega Louie, but there are still lots of things in the menu to explore, maybe next time I’ll try their pastry section and tell you all about it.
