Another new and exciting coffee shop from Melbourne has arrived in Jakarta for all of you coffee addicts. Across Starbuck coffee in Setiabudi building is where you can find St. Ali. The coffee shop has a radiant clean look, open spaced, some people might find it hot with no air conditioning but ceiling fans, but I came early so it was still tolerable. If you are more curious about their food, than this is the right review for you. St. Ali has complex menu with lots of options, catering well to both comfort and healthy eaters. You can find from Quinoa Salad to Gluten free food and also some for meat lovers. I’ve also spotted some patisseries from Beau, for the sweet tooth.
Cappuccino (IDR 45.000) and Latte (IDR 45.000): I’m no coffee expert but I can tell you this:
The coffee was light, smooth and didn’t disappoint.
Omega Love (IDR 120.000): Smoked Salmon with new season potatoes, red onions, green beans, mixed leaves, olives, tomato, tarragon dressing and a soft poached egg. I like all the ingredients of this salad, the veggies were fresh and crisp, the dressing was tangy and the salty silky Salmon was the star.
Scones (IDR 55.000): Two giant scones with cream and jam. The scones were alright, a little dry but still good.
The Omelette (IDR 120.000): Mushroom and Emmental cheese omelette with Truffle oil and sourdough toast. I just couldn’t resist their breakfast menu. This one was simple and delectable.
St. Ali Chicken Burger (IDR 135.000): Southern Kentucky buttermilk fried chicken with coleslaw, mayo and french fries. The fried chicken was crispy and full of flavor, the coleslaw and house made pickles were pretty good too. Total comfort food.
Aston’s Fluffy Bits (IDR 110.000): Pancakes with macerated berries, rum cherry, ice cream, white chocolate and hazelnuts. It looks so pretty! The pancake was thick and had a rather unconventional texture.. More like soft bread in my opinion, a little heavy for a single person, good for sharing. I like the toppings and overall it’s a satisfying breakfast menu.
Aside from St. Ali’s exceedingly popular reputation, my opinion stands that this place has sublime food and beverages. The price range might be higher than the other coffee shops but I like the different kinds of menu here. I’d definitely add it to my go-to breakfast/brunch places in Kuningan area.
