There are moments in the life as a carnivore that call for a steak…That drooling moment when you have your steak knife ready and dig in to those juicy slab of beef in a pool of its own juices on your plate, while the song ‘Hallelujah’ rings in your ears. Enough about my day dreaming and let me tell you about Ruth’s Chris Steak House Jakarta. I couldn’t be more excited to visit this American based chain restaurant. It has made a name of itself as an upscale fine dining since it was founded in 1960, and has became one of the largest luxury steakhouse company-with around 100 branches around the world. Wow!
Ruth’s Chris Jakarta snuggled on the Ground floor of Somerset Grand Citra Hotel, a little tricky to find although it’s just across Aston & Raffles hotels, next to Lotte Shopping Avenue. The restaurant looks fancy from the get go.. Very American old glamour look, with golden accents and booth seats.

I feast my eyes right on the menu as I seated, and here’s my take on their food:
Ruth’s Chop Salad (IDR 130.000): Ruth’s Chris original salad consisted of Julienne iceberg lettuce, baby spinach and radicchio tossed with red onions, mushrooms, green olives, beef bacon, eggs, hearts of palm, croutons, bleu cheese, lemon basil dressing, topped with crispy onion. Very rich and creamy salad, great for cheese lovers.

Sizzlin’ Blue Crab Cakes (IDR 230.000): Two jumbo lump crab cakes with sizzling lemon butter. Generous amount of crab meat, salty peppery and topped with that zesty lemon butter. Yum!

Ribeye Steak (IDR 690.000/340 grams): Corn-fed-Marbled USDA Prime ribeye steak. A little too fatty for my liking but the quality and flavor-wise was excellent! Another thing worth mentioning was also the way they serve your steak: even if you’re sharing, you’ll get your own sizzling buttery plate! So you’ll get those extra flavor on every bite.

New York Strip (IDR 690.000/340 grams): Corn-fed USDA Prime NY Strip Loin steak with full-bodied, more meat, but still juicy and tasted to die for. The flavor was simple, buttery salty and peppery, the true American style steak, that’s All About the taste of the great quality meat!

Side Dishes:
Broccoli Au Gratin (IDR 120.000): Simple baked broccoli and cheese.

Sautéed Mushrooms (IDR 120.000): Sautéed Button mushrooms.

To me.. Desserts are as important as the main course. I ordered two of their most tempting desserts, and here they are:
Caramelized Banana Cream Pie (IDR 150.000): Creamy white chocolate banana custard in flaky crust, topped with caramelized bananas. Big portion, enough for two-three ladies. The pie crust was light and so delicious, the banana custard was milky, fragrant and the crunchy caramelized banana on top-stole the show! Love every bite of it!

Cheesecake (IDR 150.000): This one also came in big shareable portion. It was more watery than I was expected from an American cheesecake. But the cake was velvety and rich, and the crust was more like crumble. It was good.

You probably can tell from my review that my attraction to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is undeniable. Everything about the food was satisfying and unforgettable. And I’m So looking forward to my next visit!
