One of the hotels that I hop into, so to say, on my last trip to Bali was L Hotels and Resorts at jalan Petitenget right in the middle of Seminyak area. The look of the hotel’s interior that I found on the net and its location is the main reason I chose to stay there for 2 nights. Turns out, it widened my insight on hotels yet again and led me to experience another kind of accommodation that is available out there.
On my arrival there, I noticed that the hotel was rather small as quite a number of other hotels in the area are, maybe due to the congested commercial businesses there that has push the land value way up there. The hotel exterior was dominated in black colour.
Just a few steps up the stairs from the transport drop-off, you reached the lobby area with the waiting lounge room on the side separated with glass doors. The contemporary and sophisticated interior of the lobby showed why this hotel hold the badge as one of Small Luxury Hotels in the World (by www.slh.com).
Other stairs going up from the lobby and the waiting lounge led you to Lola, a dining area with a small swimming pool for the guests on the back side. While waiting for the room, we were served welcome drinks which were surely much awaited on this sunny day.
Upon entering the room, we were told by the hotel personnel that we will be provided with two apples a day as the phrase saying “An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away”. I love their approach to service with focus on tiny details like this.
As you can see, the bedroom was rather small. However, I can assure you that it felt roomy and cosy at the very least. By the side of the king-sized bed, a wet solid surface table with sink and toiletries partitioned the bed area with the bath area. The shower cubicled with glasses and window were by the side of a bale-styled seating couch with a movable working table. In front of the bed, a long narrow shelves just below the hung LED TV.
The restroom or toilet was tucked on the other side of the bed hidden inside a cabinet looking sliding door. The use of brand like Kiehl’s for its bath gel, shampoo and conditioner, further defines luxury.
However, what astonished me more were the other services they provided there. A mobile phone was provided and could be brought anywhere during our stay. The phone has been pre-set with buttons so that we can contact the hotels with a single press, including a button for the personal butler that has been assigned to our room. So, we can contact our butler to maybe prepare something in the room before our arrival, or even just to make up the room. Wow isn’t it.
The other amazing unique service they provided was the pillow menu, where we were given several pillow selections. It let us have the flexibility to choose the pillow we want to have, or we are accustomed to use. In my case, I chose the Contour Pillow, which is the one on the top left, as it is the type of pillow I am using at home. This was truly the first time I was given this option during my travel..one I’m impressed with I might add. A bedtime story sheet was also provided by the butler, adding more weight to its remarkable services.
Luna Rooftop Bar, perched on the top floor of the building, was a semi outdoor cafe bar. Curiously, we went there one late afternoon to check it out. From the menu, we tried several munchies like Salmon Rose, Chicken Teriyaki and Panna Cotta. As for the drinks, we tried several cocktails Lychee Martini, Cosmopolitan, and Tokyo Love Story. It’s kinda early for alcohol huh? But then again it’s Bali
Here’s the view of Luna Rooftop Bar during the day and the night to give you a feeling of the venue.
As breakfast was served at Luna, we came back again in the morning for our brekkie. For the starters, we were given choice of Fruit Platter or Yoghurt Fruit. For the mains, I chose to have Bubur Ayam from the Indonesian Breakfast option as my companion chose the American Breakfast. Fruit Juice and Coffee or Tea was provided for the drinks.
Culinary hunting on the cafe haven area of Seminyak can be exchausting, so I decided to have a one or two hours pampering time at L’Spa, which was located in a house just beside the hotel. I chose a 60″ massage, Exotic Balinese Massage (IDR 295k). I always love a good Balinese massage and this one was no exception. It was relaxing and refreshing.
I feel that L Hotel Seminyak has brought the terms luxury to a new level through its impeccable services. Even though not everyone will agree with us, it was an unanimous verdict from us that we truly loved and enjoyed the stay at the hotel due to its uniqueness, great services, convenient location, and the modern well-designed room.
