As Christmas and end of year holiday is approaching this December, many shops, restaurants and hotels have their venues decorated with X’mas ornaments. Hilton Hotel in Bandung is no exception. When I first walked through the front entrance into the lobby, I was a bit flabbergasted by the view in front of me. Perched along the indoor bridge to the back end of the lobby area, a house embellished with lighting and Christmas furnishings stood tall where you could pass through its door to go across. Somewhat to the left from the entrance, a tall Christmas tree, formed with stacks of Hilton bear dools, also delivered strong aura and reminder that holiday is coming.
After passing all these grandeur X’mas decorations, I went straight to Purnawarman Restaurant just behind the lobby to experience and review what they got to offer.
Purnawarman Restaurant was also given a touch of Christmas here and there. Miniature gingerbread houses and snowmen decorated the buffet area. Table cloth was folded and garnished with dried pine cones, red gift boxes, and a small white Christmas tree, on top of it.
The desserts served on the designated stations were short of the ordinary. Besides the usual seasonal slices of fruits, ice cream and crepes, the buffet served chocolate fountain with assorted eclairs, profiteroles, macarons, and marshmallow. On the cakes and pastries side, Yule Logs, Stollen Christmas, Panettone Pudding, Christmas Butterscotch Panna cotta and Vanilla Apple Cobbler, were some of the tasty desserts you could expect to find on this festive diner buffet.
This Asian Western Buffet delivered an extravagant menu selections from carvings of Traditional Christmas Turkey, Roast Duck, Slow Roasted Angus Beef Strip Loin and Nine Hours Slow Roasted Australian Veal Shank. With wide range of appetisers such as salads, steamed king prawns and maki rolls to start the dinner buffet session, we were totally pampered by this buffet.
Italian food stations offered Deli Selections with pastrami, beef salami and smoked chicken and International Cheese Platters, besides Penne or Spaghetti cooked in four popular Italian pasta recipes: Aglio Olio, Carbonara, Bolognaise and Roasted Tomato.
Maki Rolls and Sushi selection were always favourites among Hilton’s buffet lovers. I love tataki style Sashimi and Ceviche served pastrami, dill cured, and house cured like the salmon slices in the photos.
For seafood lovers, they had huge array of seafoods to enjoy including king prawns, clams, mussel, calamari, crabs and lobsters. Quite lavish would you say.
After going through all the selections that was offered at the buffet, I sat down and enjoyed my own personal plate filled with my particular favourites.
It’s truly beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Hilton Hotel Bandung, with awe stricken decorations and grand festive buffet for Christmas and New Year events. I feel that the Christmas buffet did offer a great choice for you to have your Christmas dinner with friends and families, accompanied by sounds of live choir both in the lobby and fresco.
