Attention food aficionados, AMKC Atelier has just opened its door to quench your thirst for pastries and food alike. You might have heard of Adhika Maxi and Karen Carlotta, the master minds behind the success of Union empire. They are also the sole owner and chef of AMKC Atelier, which stands for their name if you haven’t figure it out yet. This duo husband and wife are chef and pastry chef geniuses who started as private dining chefs. AMKC Atelier was meant to be the reflection of what the superstar chefs do best. An upscale French style dining place with selected and ever-changing menu, much like what you’d expect when you are having Adhika Maxi and the missus cooking at your own place (with more affordable cost of course). The brand new place is simple and exuberant, looking classy and elegant like a French maiden in a classic movie. Chef Adhika Maxi was there with his cheerful personality, greeting everyone and personally recommending what to order.
The menu is limited but looks tempting with the range of French/Italian dishes. Here are the ones that I had today:
Welcoming Bread: Freshly baked Basil bread, crunchy on the outside, fluffy in the inside, salty, buttery and fragrant. Perfection!
Black Truffle Choux (IDR 65.000): Beautiful presented, delicious light pastry with creamy truffle mushroom filling.
New England Clam Chowder (IDR 80.000): Creamy, chunky rich flavorful soup with delicious clams, lovely added crunch from the celery pieces and croutons.
Hokkaido Scallops (IDR 230.000): Lovely seared succulent scallops with Lemon XO Vinaigrette, the side dishes Kale also was superb with simple seasonings.
Sea Urchin Pasta (IDR 180.000): Look how beautiful this dish is. The truffle angel hair pasta was tender, creamy and light, definitely tasted homemade. The Sea Urchin was velvety and melted in my mouth.
Filet Mignon with Kale and Heritage Sauce (IDR 280.000): This beef was tender and juicy, with a little sweetness from the strong wine and peppery earthy flavor. Perfected with the simple Kale side dish.
Toffee Pudding (IDR 75.000): A slice of the most delicious fluffy warm Toffee pudding with salty and sweet sauce plus homemade Vanilla ice cream. The only problem with this dessert was only-the tiny portion. 😅
Lapis Strawberry Cheese (IDR 45.000): A different take of Lapis Surabaya cake with Strawberry jam and cream. The Indonesian flavor was still strong in this cake although mixed with French touch. Love it!
Double Chocolate Crunch (IDR 45.000): Fluffy rich chocolate cake with robust Rum flavor. A chocolate lover’s dream come true.
AMKC Atelier might be brand new but I fell head over heels in one visit! It’s a mix of creative and smart presentation of contemporary European mixed with local delicacies. The precision and passion of the humble chefs also shined through the cooking. I just can’t wait to see how AMKC Atelier will evolve and I’ll sure be coming back for more.
