On one of my Singapore trips months ago, I went to a brunch place slash coffee shop which I think is worth reviewing. This place is stationed on a street within the north wing of Balestier Rd. If you go about the city with MRT, the closest and most convenient MRT station to reach Wheeler’s Yard would be Novena. However, it would still take you about 25-30 minutes walk from the station. I would suggest to use taxi if you are on a tight time constraint like I did.
The front side of the building is somewhat like a factory warehouse with a blue metal large hangar door in the middle. The name “Wheeler’s Yard” is painted on the blue door, making it hard for people to miss it. The entrance is located to the right side of building though. Once you got to the side aisle, there were red bicycles stacked tidily right in front of the entrance to the building.
Through the entrance, you got to a bike garage and store with so many bikes and its accessories. It is an actual bike store and I think it is definitely a haven for bike enthusiasts. You can drop by to tweak your bike however way you want, while you drink coffee while waiting. How great is that!
The eating area is located just to the left from the entrance, in a closed space with tall aluminium and glass partition separating it from the warehouse. I was wowed by the layout and ambience probably largely due to its high ceiling and rich adornments they put in each section of the cafe.
They do serve varieties of menu from snacks to large brunch meals, besides coffee and desserts. I would surely had a bite here if I wasn’t in such a stretch. I had a cup of their cappuccino and found it to be satisfying. The taste was a bit on the bitter side, yet it was quite smooth.
