The Prohibition Chophouse and Speakeasy Bar harks back to my most beloved bygone era,the 1920s. Because of the Amendment of Constitution that banned alcoholic beverages on that time, illegal liquor trade began to surface everywhere in US and started the era of ‘Speakeasy’ and ‘Prohibition’. Drinking and partying became a symbol of to turn back the clock to an earlier and more comfortable time. The most popular fiction of that era was probably ‘The Great Gatsby’ and restaurant reflects all the glitz and glamour of that age. Shiny brass ceiling, booth seats and framed old pictures best describe the 1920s vibe. The lunch menu here is quite limited, although you can also try to order from the complete menu (they’d have to check the chef for the availability).
The Greek Salad (IDR 129.000): Mesclun mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, Greek olives, marinated feta cheese and lemon oil dressing. Generous size, plenty of greens to chew on. The dressing was light and worked well with the salty feta cheese pieces.
Steak Frittes (IDR 219.000): Broiled US striploin with a homemade lemon herbs buttet, served with French friesnand mixed green salad. The steak was overcooked (we asked for Medium Well and it came out Well Done) so it was a little dry for my taste. The seasoning was nice though.
Broiled Chicken Breast (IDR 129.000): served with crramy mushroom sauce, truffle mashed potatoes and mixed green salad. I trully enjoyed the delicious mushroom sauce. The chicken was a little dry on the edges but some part was perfectly done.
Scallops Pasta (IDR 140.000): Angel hair pasta with Scallops, Eggplant and Pesto sauce. The pasta tasted just average, the scallop was just okay too. Nothing to be excited about.
Chocolate Devil Cake (IDR 45.000): Chocolate Devil Cake with Bavarian chocolate, layered with dulche de leche caramel. Moist rich chocolate cake that’s to die for. I’ll have another piece please!
Sticky Toffee Pudding (IDR 45.000): Toffee pudding and sea salt caramel served in a jar, topped with butterscotch sauce and homemade Vanilla ice cream. Cutely presented in a mason jar, the sticky toffee pudding was done well, had nice texture and taste.
Apple Banana Crumble (IDR 45.000): Apple Banana Cranberry crumble in custard combination. There was a funky smell that I couldn’t put into words, the texture was also too mushy and wasn’t right.
