Fairmont Hotel is the newest – most anticipated luxurious hotel in Jakarta, located right next to Plaza Senayan. The American based hotel has quite a distinguish reputation for excellent service in hotel and resorts that spreads across the United States. With a great hotel, usually comes great restaurants and today I’m there to experience the buffet lunch at Spectrum.
Spectrum included ‘Culinary Theaters’ surrounding the main dining room, bar and lounge seating areas and private dining rooms with capacities for about 14 people each. As I enter the restaurant, bright black, white and cream tiles welcomes me until I reached the inside area where a large clean sleek and very minimalist restaurant is visible.
What’s the first thing that I have to look at a buffet selection, you ask? Well it’s the dessert area of course, and may I say, Spectrum’s didn’t disapoint. They have many choices and lovely display of sweets and pure decadence to drool and indulge from. The line of local and international selection of the menu is also fantastic, from Asian noodle soup, Indian, Western and almost anything you can think of.And for an approximately IDR 275.000++/person, I think it’s quite reasonable for a Jakarta’s hotel lunch buffet. I couldn’t try all of them in one day but for me, most of the food is in excellent quality and taste.
What makes it wonderful is also the very organized sections and uncrowded line so you can take your time in choosing what to eat first. If you still can’t decide, you can always try the Indian food selection with sumptuous chicken tandoori, mutton curry, served with freshly baked chutney and naan. The beautiful juicy medium rare sliced roast beef and huge selection of Italian delicacies such as pasta and cheeses are also a winner. As well as the Japanese sushi and sashimi. The service itself was kind of slow, but quite understandable for a brand new restaurant.
