This cafe serve food inspired from Melbourne cafes, London bars, Mexican shacks and New York eateries, so be prepared to enjoy and savour the ‘food circus performance’ from around the world !
Sea Circus is not hard to find, located on a prime spots along Seminyak’s fashionable Jalan Kayu Aya (used to be Jalan Laksamana-Oberoi) where they have wonderful shops, spas, hotels and villas. And you can spot it easily, thanks to its colorful circus-themed mural and a wall of colored glass louvres.
It seemed that the favourite spot was the front section with communal seating and high chairs overlooking the street through the colored glass louvres, but I didn’t fancy to be seated on that relatively-warmer-section since this cafe didn’t provide aircon (just fans blaring).
Their special menu called the Hangover Breakfast essentially is a hearty plate of bacon, sauteed mushrooms, eggs, grilled tomato, toast, coffee, orange juice, PLUS two panadols and a berocca!!
I would appreciate such a breakfast after a big night out for sure!
But since that day I was very sober, I had the Herdy’s Cheeseburger (IDR 85.000) instead which was a prime australian minced beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, tomato and lettuce with dijon, mayo and tomato sauce, and their secret ingredients which were heavy influenced by Mexican flavour. It served with a side of delicious fries and very mouth watering sweet chilli mayo dipping sauce.
I relished their Marinated Pork Tacos (IDR 70.000 for two or IDR 90.000 for three) and their Spicy Prawn Tacos with Mango Salsa (IDR 90.000 for two or IDR 110.000 for three) and both equally good and fresh with tasteful ingredients. The prawns were nicely spiced and the cool mango salsa brought out the flavour of the prawns.
Surprisingly I was pleased by their Banofee Parfait (IDR 50.000) with slices of banana and whipped cream on top, since actually I’m not a fan of whipped cream. It’s a delish parfait, had a good balance between the whipped cream, the banana, a hint of toffee and crushed cookies.
The food overall was simple but executed to perfection, so for me this one visit was surely unfinished. I have yet to taste their churros, their fudgey chocolate mousse, their carrot cake, their quesadillas, their baguettes and tortillas….make it short, I will come back to Bali soon, and fulfil my long list of other ‘food circus performances’ at Sea Circus.
