I was longing for some Peranakan food and PappaJack has just recently opened around the corner so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located infront of the famous Tee Box bakwan place. It’s quite spacey with first floor for the Kopitiam place and the second floor for the restaurant. There’s nothing special that I can say about the interior, but I was excited about the full range menu that covers almost everything from Indonesian,Malaysian,Chinese to Western food.
Nasi Lemak (IDR 43.000): Similar to Indonesian Nasi Uduk ,this is a Malaysian fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf. The side dishes are curry chicken, salted fish, half boiled egg, cucumber slices, salted peanut and sambal/chili paste. This one has the most scrumptious curry chicken. The rice is also succulent and tasty. Really good.
Nasi Goreng “PappaJack” (IDR 42.000): Indonesian fried rice with beansprouts, chicken,vegetables and fried egg on top. Simple but fulfilling dish.
Dry Curry Mee with Curry Chicken (IDR 42.000): The egg noodle has a right firmness,seasoned well and tasted really good with the Curry chicken.
Squid Roll (IDR 29.000): Tasty squid roll with sambal on the side.
Pappa Jack provides simple home cooking with delicious flavor. On my next visit maybe I’ll try their Kopitiam and many other dishes in the menu.
