Just when I thought I’m starting to ran out of new restaurants to try in Senopati Street, Monty’s emerged. The three stories building is brand new and looks very sleek outside as well as the inside. The second floor wasn’t even officially open when I was there, and the third floor is still work in progress to become the bar and lounge area. Modern minimalist seems to be the theme of this place, with blueish gray  furniture and a touch of giant gold chandelier as the main character. The food selection are mixed European/Scandinavian food which focused more on Italian, French as their main dishes. In the very capable hands of Chef Christer Foldnes (who worked as C’s Grand Hyatt executive chef), Monty’s became quite an interesting addition to my list of hang out places in Senopati area.

Chopped Salad (IDR 95.000-Small): Turkey, chickpeas, cucumber, tomato, green beans, red onion, lemon aioli. Fresh vegetables with simple tangy dressing.

Atlantic Cod (IDR 355.000): Pan fried Atlantic Cod fish, cauliflower, capers and walnuts. Love the simple cooking method of the fish,so I could really appreciate the freshness of it. The mash potatoes were very creamy and fantastic too.

OBE organic Beef Cheek Bourguignon (IDR 285.000): Organic beef cheeks braised in red wine, shallots, carrots, mushrooms and parsley. Gorgeous presentation with the eye catching shaved-Red Carrot on top. Very tender beef and all the seasonings were absorbed well into the meat. And the bold wine sauce was delicious.

Chocolate Whiskey (IDR 95.000): Vanilla ice cream, sticky toffee- chocolate pudding, warm chocolate-whiskey sauce. A giant chocolate sphere showstopper, that melted, as soon as you pour hot chocolate sauce on top of it,just to reveal the yummy goodness inside: toffee cake with vanilla ice cream on top. Too bad the toffee cake didn’t have a trace of toffee flavor in it.

Pandan & Young Coconut (IDR 85.000): Pandan cheesecake, young coconut  pistachio biscotti. The cheesecake was too light for me, it almost resembles mousse cake. But the flavor was spot on.

Chili Chocolate (IDR 95.000): Chili flavored flour less dark chocolate cake, raspberries and vanilla ice cream. The rich chocolate cake worked well with the spicy flavor of the chili. It’s a winner.
