Mi Piace, which means “I Like It” in Italian, is an American Italian bakery, bar and restaurant in Old Pasadena, California. I’ve known this place since it was half the size with their own bakery on the side of the eatery. Now it has expand into this spacey minimalist restaurant with separated bar and their pastry display in front. Still with a nice ambiance for a patio or inside dining. One of the memorable item, for me, for Mi Piace is their -used to be- complimentary bread (too bad now they charge it for $1/basket,bottomless refill). The garlic and herb bread has it’s own fragrant, very tasty and has the outer crunch that I really love. Other than that, their New York/Italian flavored pasta and Italian dishes are the main staple in Mi Piace.
Vongole Veraci ($15.25): Traditional Italian style linguine tossed with Manila clams, garlic, chili flakes, white wine, parsley, fresh tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. Fresh clams, delicious sauce and al dente pasta.
Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken ($21.20): Fresh handmade egg fettuccine in a parmigiano, garlic and shallot white wine cream sauce topped with sliced black truffle and white truffle oil, topped with grilled chicken breast. Creamy yet light alfredo sauce.
Spaghetti Alla Pina ($16.25): Spaghetti tossed with sauteed Prince Edward Island black mussels, Manila clams, garlic, basil and a spicy San Marzano tomato sauce.
Filettino Pepe ($19.00):Two grilled “Brandt natural beef” petite fillet mignon, served with mashed potatoes and roasted peppers. The beef was perfectly cooked, with beautiful salty crust and tender juicy inside.
Mi Piace Special ($8.50): Raspberry chocolate mousse with vanilla sponge cake in between and beautiful edible white chocolate garnish. Love the way the mousse melts in your mouth and the sponge cake was light and velvety.
