I just couldn’t miss Jamie’s Italian Bali at my recent visit to the island of the Gods. Even if the traffic and self parking was a pain in the…(you know what), I tested my patience and reach Jamie’s Italian Kuta Bali, way pass the reservation time and still managed to get a table. The restaurant has two levels, bar and seating area on the lower floor; and full seating area on the top floor. Because this wasn’t my first visit to Jamie’s restaurants, I’ve kind of know what to expect from this celebrity chef restaurant. Being authentic and homemade is what Jamie Oliver is all about and I admire him for that. In Jamie’s Italian, I can’t resist the daily made pasta and their Italian delicacies. Family friendly and laid back is the feeling that I get as I sat and l look around the surroundings. The interior also thick with rustic knick knacks, and of course footprints of Jaime’s famous lifeline, from his books to many of his -available to purchase-souvenirs to take home to.
Let’s talk about the food, first of all I ordered starter Cauliflower and Parmesan Fritters (IDR 75.000): A ball of fried chopped Cauliflower and cheese, served with fiery Arrabbiata dip. The mixed of veggie and cheese might seemed too simple but as soon as I took a bite, I was hooked. There’s an element of crunch from the veggie and richness of the Parmesan,it worked wonderfully. The Arrabbiata dip was freshly tasted with real tomato chunks. Yummy!
Tagliatelle Bolognese (IDR 195.000): Ragu of beef, herbs, Chianti and Parmesan with crunchy bread crumbs. The star of this dish was the pasta-honestly fresh and al dente to the max! The bolognese sauce was lovely with generous amount of beef.
Crab Spaghetti (IDR 175.000): Pasta with garlic, capers, chili, fennel, parsley, anchovies,lemon and olive oil. If you love Shrimp Scampi, this is the one you should try. Fresh chunky crab meat that you can really see and taste, superb pasta, and the sauce was savory, sour and all around delicious!
Char-grilled Rib Eye Steak (IDR 245.000): with wild forest mushrooms, Gremolata, triple cooked fries, balsamic, onion, topped with baby Watercress. Beautifully executed steak, seasoned well and juicy to the last bite.
Being a dessert maniac, I just couldn’t resist them. Orange Blossom Polenta Cake (IDR 95.000): Polenta cake studded with candied fruit, served with creme fraiche and Pomegranate. Beautiful looking cake slice with colorful fruit toppings. The cake was simple but served warm, tasted like home..Jamie’s home I presumed 😊.
Epic Brownie (IDR 95.000): Warm fudgie brownie with Amaretto ice cream and caramelized popcorn. They weren’t kidding when they use the word ‘Epic’, the brownie was so tender it melted in my mouth, the chocolate was thick and made me smile like a little kid. The ice cream and popcorn were also a winner. It was indeed an Epic dessert.
I love Jamie’s Italian and this is another one that has stolen my heart. I’ve added this restaurant as one of Bali’s Must Visit culinary destination and hope to revisit in the future. Thanks Jamie. 😊
