My favorite time of the day is dessert time, especially when there’s a new patisserie to discover. Beau is a pastry shop and bakery owned and managed by Talita Setyadi, a local chef and entrepreneur who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Paris. With a couple of her chef friends she opened the first Beau in Plaza Indonesia and the second one here in Grand Indonesia, which located just outside of Central Department Store. The pastry shop has an appealing look, minimalist with Gold accent around it, long dessert display case in the middle and seats on the both sides. After ordering some of the gorgeous looking cakes, I settled in my seat and noticed the cute ‘Trumpet’ like chandelier on top. I didn’t quite get it at first, not after I’ve learned a little more about how Chef Talita Setyadi also studied jazz music, then it all came into place and starting to make sense. What a unique and cute personal touch she put on the decoration.

I bet you’re curious about the cakes as I am. Here’s some that I ordered today:


Astrid (IDR 45.000): White chocolate brownie, pistachio crunch, Raspberry cremeux, Raspberry jelly, Pistachio dacquoise, yogurt and white chocolate mousse, white chocolate glaze, freeze dried Raspberries and toasted Pistachio. Gorgeous looking cake, the colors and layers were mesmerizing. The  bottom layered cake was a little dense, not too sweet, the creamy layers were light and the fruity part was sweet and sour and everything nice.


Caramiel (IDR 45.455): Brown butter sablee, lemon cheesecake, salted caramel, caramel jelly, burnt honey mousse, caramelized white chocolate glaze and whipped ganache. Sweet and salty caramel, with a touch of sourness from the lemon layer, overall a delicate and fragrant cake.


Whopera (IDR 45.000): Chocolate joconde, coffee syrup, dark chocolate cremeux, salted caramel buttercream and dark chocolate glaze. Coffee and chocolate in one? What more you could’ve ask for. The cake has a nice texture, layers of bitter sweet and full aphrodisiac.


After my first visit today, I’m quite hooked to Beau, an artistry bakery and patisserie of a local chef that we should be proud of. I’m looking forward to Beau’s next creativeness.
