My short trip to Jakarta brought me to Lotte Shopping Avenue at Ciputra World searching for a dining place. After walking through the available cafe and restaurants, the choice fell on Marco Padang Grill. The fact that it offers padang cuisine in a classy restaurant setting drew my curiosity hence the decision, since I am used to have padang food at “rumah makan” padang kind of environment. Based on the information gathered there, the name was derived from the chef’s name, Chef Marco. He opened the first outlet of Marco Padang at Setiabudi One building a few years ago with the tagline Heritage Tradition Legacy.
The interior was embroidered with white brick walls on one side and adorned with dark wood furnitures and seats covered with red synthetic leather. The settings were classy and romantic. Upon browsing through the menu, I was quite surprised with the price which was astonishingly affordable. You know I was expecting the “mall” kind of price.
Ayam Lado Ijo (IDR 22,500) – The chicken was cooked and prepared ala ‘ayam pop’ padang style, but this one was seasoned with spicy ingredients making it more appetizing.
Baramundi Panggang Pacak (IDR 55,000) – The fish was cooked just right and spiced properly.
Rendang Itam (IDR 25,000) – The beef rendang was tender and juicy. Love it!
Telok Barendo (IDR 12,500) – A nice complement to the list of dishes we were having.
Es Duren (IDR 35,000)
Jus Pinang Muda (IDR 20,000) – Enjoyed the refreshing and the slight sourness on this drink.
The verdict of having padang food at Marco Padang was apparent . We loved the dishes and we adored the fact that we can enjoy it in such a nice setting with obviously better hygiene on the food.
