Was checking out a residential area, Permata Hijau, and went by this hotel the other day just across the street from a gallery called The House of Poetry Without Words. I was quickly drawn by the hotel exterior that’s a bit different from the others. Turns out it’s designed by a local renown architect Tan Tjiang Ay. His natural minimalistic design style is one of my favourite, since he always consider the effect of air flow and natural lighting of the building in his design.
Upon entering the lobby area, I spotted several ceramic crafts in some areas . They were created by F Widyanto and Srihadi Soedarsono.
The guy at the lobby counter was kind enough to show us around the hotel and its amenities. We took a peek at two or three different rooms. The weather was perfect at the time, with the breezy wind, and the sun playing hide and seek in the clouds made me consider to do a staycation at this hotel. The room has the right combination of colour, lighting, and layout, added with trinkets that made it pleasant and cozy to stay in.
Lastly, I was shown to Griya Batik in the lobby. The batik was the work of art of Go Tik Swan Panembahan Hardjonagoro.
With the staying policy of no kids and only two persons maximum for one room, the hotel was clearly not made for family but more for couples and professionals alike. At a rather steep staying price, I would recommend it for people who can appreciate the artistry that goes along with the hotel.
