The newest addition to Senopati’s ever growing restaurant rows is Branche. This bistro is as attractive from the outside, as it is on the inside. The first impression I’ve got from it was the sophistication and comfy look of the interior. Sunlight coming through the large glass ceilings, highlights the bronze and dark interior as well as the furniture. The menu is dominantly French, but there are also a few selections of Indonesian, Indian and Asian cuisine.
Chicken Wings (IDR 52.000): Marinated chicken wings served with BBQ sauce. Wings with sweet and spicy sauce. The sauce was okay but the chicken was rubbery.
Branche Prawn Salad (IDR 58.000): Fresh prawns with mixed salad, served with chef’s special French dressing. love the fragrant and tasty prawns, although there’s nothing special about the salad dressing.
Nachos Grande (IDR 72.000): Flour tortilla served with angus chili con carne, guacamole and cheese sauce. The chips tasted more like pitta chips, it’s airy, crunchy and delicious.
Chicken Quesadilla (IDR 65.000): Spicy chicken with roasted paprika and mozzarella cheese. Great tasting quesadilla with flavorful filling.
Spicy Fried Calamari (IDR 72.000): Marinated fresh calamari served with thousand island sauce. Crispy battered, but the calamari is still soft and easy to chew. It’s good.
Coq au vin (IDR 85.000): Chicken leg served with diced carrots and mushrooms accompanied by mashed potatoes and red wine sauce. Made famous by Julia Child ,this is a French dish of chicken braised with wine, lardons, mushrooms, and optionally garlic. The chicken was tender, the sauce was a little thin but still rich in flavor.
Pappardelle Creamy Lobster (IDR 105.000): Pan seared lobster with creamy lemon sauce and chopped parsley. I was a little dissapointed to find freshwater lobster on the pasta with so little meat in it.The pasta was actually quite good, perfectly cooked with the right amount of cream sauce.
Honey Glazed Salmon (IDR 135.000): Pan seared salmon glazed with honey accompanied by cream spinach. My favorite dish of all. The salmon was fresh, cooked nicely with crispiness on the outside, the spinach was delicious and the best part was the sweet caramelized honey glazed sauce on top. Fantastic!
Premium Strip loin (IDR 175.000): 200 gr. Of grilled black angus with sauteed asparagus, caramelized mushroom and potato fondant. The steak is just okay, the taste is a little bland for my liking.
Indonesian Authentic Fried Rice with Short Rib (IDR 95.000): Traditional fried rice recipe, served with sunny side up egg and peanut sauce. The most common Indonesian dish that’s always a favorite. This one has all the right elements. Perfect seasoning, plump rice, and nicely done sides.
Aglio Olio with Duck Confit (IDR 90.000): Spaghetti with chili flakes, chopped garlic and fresh basil. Although the pasta is a little overly salted, the duck is delicious.
Chocolate Lava (IDR 45.000): Ordinary looking chocolate lava cake, but the chocolate was rich and satisfying.
Raspberry Pannacotta (IDR 45.000): The pannacotta has a weird strong milk smell, the only thing that I enjoyed was the nougat on the bottom.
