My first Peruvian food experience was nothing short of ordinary. The restaurant was located on the 10th Ave.in Manhattan, NY. Even though it didn’t look much from the outside, the place was surprisingly large on the inside. The long bar welcomes you as you walked in the hip eatery. And as you you move further inside, you’ll get a glimpse of the large dining area,downstairs, with the tree twigs accents all over the walls. It’s a beautiful place that’s hidden from the busy street outside.

Calamar Frito ($12.00): the fried Calamari was nicely seasoned,but the squid was a little under cooked.

Matador Combo ($36.00): Chicken Pio served with rice and beans, Tostones that actually are fried banana slices ( prepared just like Indonesian snack), Salchipapa ( a dish that consists of thinly sliced pan-fried beef sausages and French fries, mixed together and served with different sauces (typically ketchup and mayonnaise) and chili pepper), and avocado salad. The roasted chicken was super tender and juicy all over. The spicy avocado sauce was superb.

Arroz Chaufa ($28.00): Peruvian style Chinese fried rice mixed with eggs, onions,and soy sauce, served with beef. A lighter version of the usual oily and heavy MSG Chinese fried rice. It’s simple but delicious at the same time.

Mero con Salsa de Porto ($24.00): Baked Chilean Sea bass,served on a mushrooms and spinach bedding sauteed in olive oil. Perfectly cooked fresh fish, love the sauce and the side dishes that came with it.
