There are lots of Indonesian restaurants in Jakarta. Most of them have similar menus and it’s becoming confusing to choose which are the ones that really stood out. Waroeng Kita is a simple traditional restaurant that has only a few selection of Indonesian menus, but it’s worth to try. The all wooden furnitures & simple but authentic wall decorations are making this restaurant memorable. I went to eat here with my family and we ordered: Sup Asem-Asem Iga, it’s a beef ribs soup with rich flavor of sweetness ,sour, spicy and it really kicks up your appetite. I wish they make it just a bit more sour, then it’ll be perfect. The Gado-Gado (Mix Vegetable Salad with Peanut Dressing) is also very nice. The dressing is sweeter than any other Gado-Gado I’ve tasted. Just the way I like it. Then my son ordered the Oriental Fried Rice. It’s a Chinese style fried rice cooked with eggs, chicken, fishballs and green peas. It’s delicious. The Kwetiau Goreng (Fried Kwetiau) is also a winner. It’s flat rice noodle fried fried with eggs, beansprouts and chicken. Too bad the portion of this dish is too small. Perfect for kids but not for adult. Next we have the Sate Ayam (Chicken Satay): 8 pieces of grilled all white meat chicken skewers with peanut sauce. Last but not least we ordered the Nasi Timbel. It’s a Sundanese style rice (usually it’s served with white rice, but this time we requested red rice instead) with fried chicken, salty fish, sayur asem (Sour Vegetable Soup), sambal (chilli paste), & lalapan (salad) on the side. Everything about this is good, but they could’ve done better with a fresh salty fish.
