One of the things that I like the most about living in Jakarta, is the varieties of noodles that we got to choose from, and this one is another eatery that we should be proud of. Owned by Indonesian’s veteran chef William Wongso, Miitem offers a melting pot of Indonesian colorful taste with international flavor.
I started my meal with the Miitem Cracker with Aoli-Tuna Mayo- dip (IDR 25.000): The idea of this fried black cracker was brilliant, but too bad the cracker wasn’t crunchy. The taste and the sauce was delicious.
The Mie item/ Black noodle made from squid ink, is the restaurant’s signature dish:
Cwie Miitem (IDR 33.500): Steamed black noodle Chinese style, with minced chicken and fried shallots, served with soup on the side. Love the texture of the noodle, and the seasonings were perfect.
Miitem Goreng Jawa (IDR 35.000): The main difference of Javanese Fried Noodle (Mie Goreng Jawa ) from Chinese Noodle dish is the introduction of Sweet Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis) during the frying process takes place. This step produces fragrant aroma and let the noodle absorbs the sweetness of the sauce down into its core. To me this dish was just okay, it needed a touch of extra ‘courage’ on the seasonings.
Mushroom and Mixed Cheese Flaky Pizza (IDR 45.000): Another winner from this restaurant. Unlike the usual pizza, they use thinly layered pastry dough that added the extra crunchiness on the pizza. The toppings were also very delicious, I couldn’t get enough of it.
