As we’re exiting Universal Studios Singapore after a 3-hours amusing run to try as many rides and shows as we can before the park closed, we saw a small but interesting popcorn shop. The sign said Garrett Popcorn Shops, a chicago tradition since 1949.
Suggested by the girl at the counter, we tried the chicago mix as introduction to this particular brand of popcorn. The mix contains combination of caramelcrisp and cheesecorn, which gave a blend of sweetness and saltiness in a bite of this gourmet popcorn. Great snack during movies I would say. However, if you eat too much of these flavors, the flavor will quickly become too much especially on the salty side.
In the end, before we left sentosa, we decided to get several tin cans of the popcorn (S$ 16/can) as gifts to friends and families. It is a great idea for gifts especially because they use nice tin cans for the packaging, aside from its taste. Popcorns in the tin cans can last for two to three weeks according to the storekeeper. And you know what, I also got macadamia caramel crisp from a friend a couple of weeks after. Personally I like this one better. Its sweet crispy caramel corn combined with macadamia nuts, makes a perfect taste combination. Sweet but not too sweet. Made me finish the whole bag by myself.
