Warung Indomie Abang Adek – Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Indomie lovers, brace yourselves for the ultimate Indomie eatery, Warung Indomie Abang Adek. First established in 1995, this street food is famous for it’s extreme levels of spicyness on the instant noodle. Starting from: Sedang/Medium (20 chilies), Pedas/ Spicy (25 chilies), Garuk/ Scratcy Hot (75 chilies), Gila /Crazy (100 chilies) and the maximum: Pedas Mampus/ Deadly Spicy (150 Chilies)!  Beside the spicyness level, you can choose the flavor of the noodle: Indomie Goreng/ Fried Indomie, Mie Rebus/Noodle Soup: Kari Ayam, Soto Mie, Ayam Bawang, Special, and the extra toppings such as eggs, corned beef, fried egg with corned beef, cheese.

I considered myself to be a chilli padi lover, but even I couldn’t dare to try the Pedas Mampus one, so I decided to order both the Indomie Goreng Garuk and Indomie Rebus Kari Ayam Garuk. The first one I tried was the noodle soup, and the redness of the chilies on the soup was scary and tempting at the same time. As you can imagine, the taste was Burning!! I could eat the noodle but not the entire bowl without having an extreme heart burn afterwards, so I moved on with the fried noodle. This one is less burning, but Bitter Hot nonetheless. I wish they’d put extra seasoning on the dish because for me, the super spicyness of the chilies killed all the flavor of the noodle, resulting tasteless meal.

Beside the Indomie, we also ordered Toast with chocolate and cheese with condense milk. It’s delicious and a great addition after the spicy meal. FYI they also serve normal less crazy meals like fried chicken and Pecel Lele /fried catfish.

Looking on how this humble place could make it’s name by a really simple collation, was amazing. It’s really a fun place to try if you’re curious about this kind of insane hawker food, but I think beside that, it’s just something that’s enough to experience just once in your lifetime.
