Toridoll Yakitori – Gandaria City Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Toridoll Yakitori is a new Japanese Restaurant in Gandaria City Mall right across Maison Tatsuya. I enjoy Japanese cuisine, especially the one with many varieties and Yakitori is one of their fascinating dishes, because it’s a small meal with diverse selection. The eatery looks wide and narrow from the outside, but it’s actually spacey inside with an open kitchen right in the middle. The interior is modern and sleek for a Japanese restaurant. There are so many fun and unfamiliar dishes in the menu that I was tempted to order. These are some that I could share with you.

Karikarijyako Ebi Kamameshi (IDR 73.000): Small fish Sardines and shrimp Kamameshi (Japanese ‘kettle /clay pot rice’). The rice has that nice firm texture like you get from the bottom of a clay pot. Although the flavor is simple from the savory from the salted fish, the shrimps are nicely cooked and the shredded egg added color of the dish.

Tokyo Set (IDR 190.000): Yakitori set of 15 Kushi Moriawase that includes Negima (Skewered grilled chicken with green onion), Tsukune (minced chicken), Liver, Gizzard, Torimi (grilled chicken), Tomato cheese, baby potatoes, zucchini, eggplant, and Shitake mushrooms. Love the presentation and the tiny grilling pot to reheat your skewers while you eat. The food itself has its each distinct flavor. All seasoned and grilled nicely. I also like the sweet sauce, it harmonized the taste.

Ebi Tempura Gozen (IDR 110.000): A full course of Tempura Moriawase ; Salmon Arajiru Soup ; Tsukemono (pickled veggies) ; Wakame Salad and White Rice. Nothing to complain about the delicious-all excellent quality of the complete set of golden crisp assorted Tempura. The side dishes are lovely..especially the hearty fish soup that comes with it. But you might have to be extra careful eating it because the fish are loaded with bones.

Tori Tofu (IDR 48.000): Boiled chicken and tofu in Sukiyaki sauce. The tofu is silky, and tasted more and less like a Chawan Mushi. The chicken meatballs are tender and flavorful and perfect to be eaten with the sweet savory sauce.

I had a lovely experience and will definitely come back for more Toridoll Yakitori.
