The Ritz-Carlton – Nusa Dua Bali

Author: Sassy Eater.

June 2015.

I have stayed at The Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta, Singapore, Japan, and a few others and all I can say here….everything at The Ritz-Carlton in Nusa Dua, Bali, live up to my expectations of it being a world-class resort.

From the lobby which was perched on top of a cliff, we could overlook the majority of the resort down to the beach and the sight was amazingly beautiful. We had to take the elevator down to the hotel and pool area.

Claudia was there greeted us and guided us through the smooth check-in process. En route she explained which restaurant where we would have breakfast, and other lounges and restaurants which we could go to during our stay. Senses was an all-day restaurant, Raku served Japanese food, Bejana served Indonesian cuisine, The Beach Grill served more of seafood choices, The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge was a bar and lounge in the lobby of the hotel, and a beachfront pool bar and tapas lounge called Breezes.

We were thoroughly explained on every detail, ranging from the buggy service for transport within the hotel to free wifi with no password and complimentary photo shoot (1 file picture for free, but after the photo shot session, we couldn’t make up our mind, ended up buying almost 20 files of pictures) bigsmile

The resort itself was stunning. It was beautifully built and laid out with impressive gardens and landscaping and sweeping views and access to the beach. There were 6 separate buildings in the compound that lead to the pools area and beach. My suggestion is to avoid the left wing building that next to an under construction Kempinski hotel to avoid disturbance.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the garden was quite mature despite the fact that the hotel was only recently completed. When the trees are maturely grown, I’m absolutely positive that TheRitz-Carlton Nusa Dua Bali will be even more beautiful!

The pristine wedding chapel stood out even from a distance, it was even more stunning from the inside. And with a glimpse of a gorgeous view of the ocean, all I wanted to say was “I do”.tongue

We had our Sawangan Junior Suite upgraded to the Sawangan Junior Suite Lagoon Access, which we had a generous terrace with seating area and a dock that led into a large lagoon like pool with semi-cordoned sections for each suite.  Since we were there with no other guests staying in other 7 suites which supposed to share the pool, we had the whole pool all for ourselves. I was able to swim from one end to the other. Yes!! It’s like having a villa convenience and luxury for an extremely reasonable price point. tongue

We came as a family of 6 adults, 1 teen and 3 kids. And these 3 suites with 88 square meter space each, were more than enough to accommodate us all, comfortably and luxuriously. Our room itself was spacious and gorgeous! Separate walk-in wardrobe, bathtub with a tv, shower cubicle, separate lavatory closet, separate desk area and two snuggly queen-sized bed overlooking the lagoon pool. The beds could be closed off from the bathroom with sliding panels.

The flooring alternated between smooth dark wood and large tiles that were cool underfoot. There was a ceiling fan, but the air conditioning worked quietly but efficiently and the room easily held a cool temperature.

Thanks to several windows the room stayed bright with lots of natural light. On the contrary, it had a motorized blackout curtain, to get an absolute blackout. I could simply press the button on the panel near the bed. A lot of hotels have bright lights around the room that glare in the darkness, but this one was blissfully absent of any of those.

There was an Illy coffee machine in the room, and other little things in the wardrobe like a brightly colored set of soft kimono style, in addition to the regular set of robes, straw hats and straw bag you could use in the property and even brought home, which was a thoughtful gesture.

We enjoyed a varied, exciting breakfast selection every morning, included the American Set, Indonesian Set, Japanese Set, and Healthy Energizer Set. A la carte delicacies comprised homemade pastries, tropical fruit, classic waffles and pancakes, and choice of eggs. Instead of the standard tiny strawberry and marmalade jars, there were several other choices that included a mint jelly, blackberry jam, Australian honey, even Nutella, and Peanut Butter. The fruits were sliced and arranged artfully, and cereals along with nuts and berries were offered in small bowls and glass jars.

Each day was a chance to try new things, as there was never the exact same spread as the day before. Sushi rolls, pork sliders, and customize-your-soup were all fun options.

The Ritz Carlton have  lovely infinity pools and beautiful cabanas on the beach with towels and pillows provided to laze around and enjoy the breeze of the sea. My favourite thing to do during our stay there! lovestruck

We had lunch in the cabana, ordering from the Breezes, the resort’s pool bar and tapas lounge which was located at the side of the pool. I started with the Nasi Goreng (IDR205K) which I considered not good enough for locals and fried rice lover. But other than that, they served us delicious dishes. The Club Sandwich (IDR 175K), comprised toast, tomato, chicken, bacon, egg, Emmental cheese, and french fries, was delectable. The Chicken Wings (IDR 120K) was a flavoursome prawn stuffed chicken wings. But the must try menu was the Gambas Al Aljillo (IDR 135K), consisted of prawns, garlic, olive oil sauce, and parsley. It was finger-lickin’ awesome!

The beach itself was not the best beach we’ve ever been to and it’s not always possible to swim in, but it was beautiful and scenic. Clear water and calm sea. There was some seaweed on the shore that washed up every morning and though the service staff attempted to clean it diligently, it would still show up. It didn’t prevent us from going into the water and enjoying our time on the beach though.

All the staff were top notch, absolutely wonderful.  We have stayed in fair share of hotels and we were blown away by the attention to detail and customer service that this hotel presented. Service was flawless and the staffs were extremely helpful. Suitable for couples or family with children. It’s one of the best customer service experiences we have ever had.

So there goes two nights three days of an excellent and memorable stay. For every stay anywhere there is always something negative to pick out from. But for this, I would give an amazing 5 stars as Ritz Carlton Nusa Dua has set a new high standard of service.

I usually switch hotels during my frequent stay in Bali. But after this experience, I am considering in coming back again in the near future.

October 2015

I came back to Bali! It’s my fifth visit to Bali and second stay at The Ritz Carlton this year. This time I stayed with a little family of mine for three nights, occupying the Sawangan Junior Suite Lagoon Access, upgraded from Sawangan Junior Suite.

We explored more to the resort’s harmonious centre, The Ritz Carlton Spa, which includes a Fitness Center, a spacious Yoga Studio, Wet Lounge, and the Hydro-Vital pool. Each facility was accessible for in-house hotel guests.

The Hydro-Vital Pool here reminds me to the The Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool at Ayana Resort we tried several years ago. Inside the pool, we tried all the jet streams, each aimed to different part of our body. So it’s as we had a massage therapy but instead of hands, we had it by the jet streams. With over 10 individual therapeutic jet streams, micro-bubbles and geysers, we had our stiff muscles rehabilitated. When it’s darker, the Gardens-by-the-Bay-like structures illuminated the pool area astonishingly.

We continued our journey to the Wet Lounge which includes a warm whirlpool, cold plunge pool, sauna and steam room, a spacious locker room and dressing tables complemented with amenities.

Our session at Hydro-Vital Pool gave us overall serenity, body rejuvenation, complete relaxation and a good night sleep afterwards.

On our last day, we had a chance to have a thorough look of some villas. We were escorted by a nice young man, named Gidi to the villa area. He brought us to The Cliff Villa and The Garden Villa, each has a spacious dining and living room, ample bedroom and bathroom, and a private sundeck, bale and swimming pool.

Here are some the pictures of the one bedroom Cliff Villa.

And below are the pictures of the one bedroom Garden Villa. The Garden Villa is a two-storey villa with dining and living area on the first floor. Bedroom, bathroom and small office area is on the second level. It boasts a large sundeck with rooftop daybed where you can see the fairly large garden that is shared with other Garden Villas.

Once again, we were mesmerised by the beauty of the villas of The Ritz Carlton. And once again, I’m considering of coming back to The Ritz Carlton, staying at one of the lovely villas. It’s not cheap, I know, but The Ritz Carlton is totally worth the splurge.
