Sushi Airways – Kampong Glam Singapore

Author: Chic Eater

My stay at Kampong Glam Singapore during last December holiday, truly presented me with quite a few cafes and restaurants that I would not have visited otherwise. One of them is Sushi Airways, the Singapore’s first aircraft themed restaurant. It was located right in the centre of the quaint and bohemian Kampong Glam district, close to the popular Haji Lane.

As I was doing the cafe hopping that day, right after a cup of coffee of a nearby coffee shop / cafe, I decided to have my quick small lunch at this Japanese cafe. When I walked up the narrow stairs to this cafe, I noticed decorations of miniature plane hung on the ceiling of the aisle and how they use metal stairs usually used to get on board a plane. The feeling of being inside a plane was the first thing I felt when I step on my foot inside the cafe.  So they did quite well interior wise.  Unfortunately, it also came with the slightly wary aura of being inside a plane for me. It might not be the case for others though.

From their menu that was designed as a flight manual, I ordered Salmon Tataki (S$15), just to get a feel of their menu and satisfy my dire crave for sashimi. And it was not for nothing. The fresh sashimi was cut into the right slice thickness and seasoned well with ponzu sauce and garden salad on top.

The excitement of finding a new themed cafe was the main attraction to me and combined with a good quality food product, it became one satisfying outeating experience. 😉
