Suihou – Plaza Bapindo Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

There are so many Japanese eateries in SCBD area but one worth the mention is Suihou. This authentic brand new restaurant is located on the 27th floor of Plaza Bapindo or the Mandiri tower to be precise. The large set eatery has many available seating arrangements and private tatami rooms available. The menu is pretty impressive with all kinds of Japanese food you can find. The portion here is quite small, pretty much like other Japanese restaurants I’ve tried.

Yasai Salad (IDR 40.000): Mix vegetable and potato salad with Japanese dressing. The veggies were fresh and the tangy dressing complimented the dish.

Chuka Wakame (IDR 35.000): This Seaweed salad was delicious and fresh.

Dragon Roll (IDR 220.000): Unagi, Cucumber  and Tempura sushi. The unagi had that fishy smell. Wasn’t my favorite dish.

Suihou Roll (IDR 105.000): Sushi of Scallop, Salmon, Tuna and Prawn. Overall this sushi was delectable, the seafood element was fresh and nice.

Kensaki Ika Sugatayaki (IDR 95.000): The grilled Japanese squid was a bit tough to chew.

Salmon Shio Yaki (IDR 90.000): Grilled Salmon fillet with salt. I like the crunchy fish skin and it was cooked perfectly.

Saba Shioyaki (IDR 75.000): Grilled Japanese Mackerel. The Mackerel had firmer flesh than the other fishes, but it was also as delicious as the others.

Gindara Teriyaki (IDR 160.000): I enjoyed this grilled Cod Teriyaki, especially the sweet and savory sauce.

Yaki Gyoza (IDR 90.000): Grilled chicken Gyoza dumpling. Love the crispy Gyoza skin, the filling was also delictable.

Dessert:

Sop Buah Padang Pasir (IDR 35.000): Jack fruit, Watermelon, Melon, Basil Seed, Nata de Coco and Grenadine Syrup. Nothing special to mention about this dessert.

Tempura Ice Cream (IDR 42.000): Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this dessert. The tempura skin wasn’t cooked well and the ice cream was just average.

Lychee Fruit Peach Soup (IDR 35.000): Lychee, Strawberry, Peach, Dragon fruit, Watermelon and Melon. Another not so special dessert. But I guess still better than nothing at all.

I would say Suihou is a decent place for an alternative Japanese restaurant. The vastly menu is one of the perks, and I would like to revisit this eatery, but definitely not for the dessert.
