Ratatouille – Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Not many people familiar with Ratatouille until the Disney movie came out. I admit, it’s a catching and interesting name for a restaurant. My first impression of the place was quite nice. The garden-styled Parisian-French inspired interior is cute and young spirited. The waitress’ knowledge about the menu was pretty good, but the service still needed much improvement. FYI they also have a bar across the hall which turn into a lounge at night time.

Ratatouille (IDR 50.000): Eggplant, zucchini bell pepper, tomato, parsley, basil and mozzarella cheese. This entree was average.

Gratin d’Escargots (IDR 70.000): Baked snails with mushroom, garlic, cream, herb-butter and parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. The snails and mushrooms was delicious with perfect seasonings. But the bread crumbs part was a bit confusing to me. It doesn’t really blend with the dish.

Salade Nicoise (IDR 65.000): Romaine, tuna flakes, anchovies, green beans, vine tomatoes, olives, cucumber and hard boiled egg with honey, garlic and lemon vinaigrette. I wasn’t too fond of this salad. The dressing was nice sweet sour and refreshing, but the tuna was out of a can and I think it doesn’t go with a restaurant of this standard.

Confit de Canard (IDR 105.000): Duck confit with vegetables and baby potatoes. I give this dish a two thumbs up. The duck skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy, love the pepper mustard sauce plus the baby potatoes.

Entrecote et Tomates Farcies aux Legumes (IDR 160.000): Beef short ribs with foie gras and stuffed tomatoes. The meat was a bit tough although the taste is good.

Moelleux au Chocolat (IDR 50.000): Melted chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. Not a good dessert. The icecream was cheap and the cake was over cooked and dry.

Trouver L’Amour (IDR 55.000): Ratatouille layered signature cake with chocolate brownies, vanilla, coffee and red velvet sponge cake covered with caramelized nuts and buttercream. A much too beautiful name for a sad cake. The buttercream was too heavy, the coffee layer was lumpy and dry. The only good thing about this was the brownie.
