Pardon My French – Tanah Abang, Jakarta

I must admit that the name of this restaurant cracks me up. Pardon My French is certainly creative in combining many choices of international food as well as the funny – easy to remember name. This place is also has a lot of instagram worthy food styling and photo corners, which is an important aspects for a Jakarta’s sought out eateries now a days. As a food blogger I often remind myself that these things often just a gimmick to attract customers, but I try to be fair and considerate in my writings as well as stay true to the food lover that I am. Well, let’s put this theory to the test shall we?

It took me quite sometime to decide what to order from their huge selections of Japanese and French cuisine contemporary dishes. They also serve all day brunch, nibbles, light meals and some Italian food.

Rare Beef Salad (IDR 85.000): Mixed chopped salad of shredded cabbage, herbs, candied cashews, vinaigrette dressing and sliced rare beef with fried shallots on top. Fresh tasty salad with good ingredients.

Nori Taco (IDR 50.000): Two pieces of lightly breaded calamari with sliced chili and squid ink Aioli. Love the presentation, very interesting and delicious dish.

Four Formaggi Pizza (IDR 80.000): Thin crust pizza with Signature White Sauce, sliced mushrooms, truffle oil and honey. I was expecting the usual salty cheese pizza, but this one surprisingly a little bland. The crust was good and the cheese was okay.

L’entrecote Style Steak (IDR 190.000): 200g of USA beef with Cafe De Paris Sauce and shoestring fries. Sorry to say that the steak itself was tough to chew. I like the pesto-like sauce and the fries tho.

Dessert:

Joey’s Lava Cake (IDR 60.000): Mediocre chocolate melted cake served with vanilla ice cream.

Green Tea Pannacotta (IDR 40.000): Blueberry Coulis, fresh berries and chocoate rocks. Lovely styling, the pannacotta was rich in flavor.

From my point of view (or this case taste 😁) Pardon My French is a perfect place for hanging out and can be considered to be a ‘happening’ spot for younger crowds but probably not so much for serious eaters. Maybe my second visit in the future could alter my review.
