NamNam Noodle Bar – Gandaria City Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Although I’ve written a review on NamNam Noodle Bar Singapore, I haven’t try the Indonesian branch till today. As far as I know, there are currently 3 locations of the Vietnamese restaurant in Jakarta: Pantai Indah Kapuk, Plaza Indonesia and Gandaria City. The Gandaria City branch took place right next to Tous Le Jour bakery. The restaurant, although not too big, has a vibrant vibe. A unique-modern twist of Vietnamese street eatery. For you Bahn Mi lovers, they have a tiny bar just for the sandwich making. Overall it’s a cute, youthful looking place.

The menu here is surprisingly huge. They weren’t kidding about the ‘Noodle Bar’ on the title because you can find all kinds of Vietnamese noodle menu here. The pricing is also reasonable for a mall restaurant. I was there with bunch of my friends, so we order as much as our bellies could possibly take.

Cabbage Salad (IDR 38.000): Salad of white cabbage, fish cake, grilled chicken, herbs and peanuts. I really enjoyed the bold flavor of the dressing. Spicy, tangy and delicious.

Shrimp Sugarcane (IDR 70.000): Coconut shrimp paste wrapped in sugarcane skewer. Crunchy outside crust, the shrimp has average taste. Good sweet and sour chili sauce though.

Sauteed Lemongrass Beef Bahn Mi (IDR 58.000): Sauteed Lemongrass beef, cream cheese and beef floss with chicken pate, mayonnaise, hot chili pepper, pickled carrot and green papaya, cucumber and fresh Cilantro-in between toasted baguettes. Please excuse the blurry pic, I think my hunger got the best of me 😅 The bread was light, I couldn’t get enough of the pickle, and all the elements in there worked well with the salty cream cheese.

Quang Style Noodle (IDR 65.000): Egg noodle with grilled  chicken, prawn, fried prawn wonton, rice cracker, chopped herbs and peanut. This dry noodle has all of the yummy elements to indulge on, the sauce burst with flavor, the noodle was chewy and I like the varieties of toppings too. It’s delicious.

Soft Shell Crab Noodle (IDR 65.000): Rice noodles with crab cakes, tofu, tomato, beansprouts, chopped herbs. This one had thicker soup, very flavorful and the toppings were succulent.

I tried their Lunch Set Menu too, with drinks and side order included (for limited time and weekdays only):

Beef Set Lunch (IDR 70.000): Pho noodle with beef steak slices. The thinly sliced beef was tender and cooked perfectly, tasty clear soup and light noodle.

Chicken Set Lunch (IDR 70.000): The same noodle soup as the previous one but with shredded chicken topping. The chicken was bland, wasn’t exactly my favorite.

Crispy Fried Prawn Wontons: The wonton skin was too thick, with little filling, it was ‘meh’.

This Vietnamese Ice Coffee was really good! Fragrant and deep in flavor.

My huge lunch at NamNam Noodle Bar left me with smiling with bulging happy belly and the reasonable food bill was also a good mood booster. I will definitely come back here with the whole family.
