Motel Mexicola – Seminyak – Bali

Author: Chic Eater

Finally, it got me writing review on this amazing mexican restaurants in Bali. If you drove down Jl. KayuJati, Petitenget, you could not have missed Motel Mexicola, located just a few buildings from Vin+, with its colorful traditional carribean style exterior.  Since the street is quite narrow, there’s only parking space for motorbikes, but no parking zone for cars.  You, however, can park your cars at La Lucciola public beach parking just a few metres away.

Upon entering the restaurants, I was getting more impressed with the amount of detail put into the interior of this restaurants. It was open air mostly, so smoking is definitely allowed. I have visited the restaurants on both lunch and dinner time. It was a good experience to have your daytime meal there, but it was incredibly fulfilling to spend your nightime escapade at the place. The ambiance was ignited by the many foreign tourist guests. You might have a tough time however finding seats if you haven’t made any reservation.

If you’re not familiar with Mexican food, you might get a bit confused with the menu. Fortunately, we got ourselves a great waitress to the rescue. 😀 She recommended to try several starters and a main dish to share for two persons, instead of ordering 2 starters and 2 mains. So we decided on her suggestions.

Guacamole (IDR 35,000), freshly cut avocado mixed with mexican salsa served with freshly made corn chips.

Quesadillas de Vegiteriano (IDR 60,000), flour tortilla with fillings of corn, capsicum, and onion with mexican salsa

Tostaditas de Atun (IDR 39,000), fried yellow corn tortilla with raw tuna, chipotle mayonnaise, sesame seeds and coriander.

Tacos de Pescado (IDR 30,000), tacos filled with tempura fish, pico de gallo, and coriander.

Costillas de Cerdo (IDR 120,000), Mexican style pork ribs with secret sauce served with corn.

All the starters are fresh and tasty. Although the portion was a bit small, sharing several different starters is definitely the way to go. Closing the dinner with a sharing plate of pork ribs really indulged my appetite for good food. It was tender and moist.

For thirst quencher, we had Mangohito and Maraquya Passion from mocktail section both priced at IDR 35,000. Both are balanced and refreshing. I was not in the mood for alcohol that night tongue

Anyhow, Motel Mexicola is one restaurant that I cannot easily forget. And I believe it’s rightfully so.
