Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ – Torrance California

Author: Posh Eater

Where do you go to find the best pork ribs  (according to my personal taste) in Southern California? I would say, without a doubt, it’s Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ. This South Carolina style BBQ makes their own secret sauces and recipe that has been around since a little after WWII. There are over 20 branches of Lucille’s all over California and Nevada and I’ve never encountered one without a long line at peak hours, so reservations are very much recommended. This dinner time I stopped by Lucille’s in Torrance CA. Without a reservation, we’ve got a whooping 2 hours wait line! 🙁 We were about to leave when they texted us back (That’s how they notified you) and this time, luck was on our side with just a 15 min wait. I think no body wanted to take the narrow booth seats, so we’ve got it instead. Yay!

The restaurant is very Southern American decorated -aligator head on the mantel, jazz musicians’ pictures and a whole lotta cute flying pigs knick knacks-very in sync with their specialities. The display of their giant barbeque machine is the prove that pork ribs are their main star, but they also serve pasta, seafood and other dishes too. With a separated bar section, this place is also a  family friendly eatery.

Baby Back Ribs ($24.99-Half): Baby back pork ribs, slow-cooked with sweet hickory smoke, then grilled and basted with Lucille’s special BBQ sauce. Love how the sweet BBQ sauce is absorbed perfectly to the meat, and it’s so tender that it fell right off the bone.

Beef Ribs ($31.99-7 bones): Tender, big and meaty beef ribs, spice-rubbed, slowly smoked, then glazed with Lucille’s BBQ sauce. The ribs were super juicy, it’s more tangy, peppery and fatty than the pork ones but it was so succulent and finger licking good!

Lucille’s Sirloin Steak ($21.99-8oz): Tender sirloin steak marinated for 24 hours in Lucille’s special marinade. Sliced and served over garlic mashed potatoes. Served with Lucille’s steak gravy and fresh vegetables. Juicy, tender and just right!

Child’s Rib Plate ($8.49):  A quarter rack of Lucille’s baby back ribs grilled to perfection.
