Le Cafe Gourmand – Gunawarman Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Good news for desserts and coffee lovers in Jakarta, there’s another promising place by the name of Le Cafe Gourmand that’s just opened. The cafe is quite spacey with large dessert   display case, coffee and ice cream station. FYI, they’re mainly focusing on pattiserries and desserts so they don’t have any main course available here.

Caesar salad (IDR 45.000): Salad of iceberg lettuce, and croutons, dressing with parmesan cheese and chicken breast. There’s nothing much I can say about this dish besides that the dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle.

Chef’s Salad (IDR 47.500): Salad of iceberg lettuce with beef, chicken, sausage and shrimp dressed in thousand island dressing. The look was a mess and the taste was just average.
Croque Salmon (IDR 62.500): Croque of smoked salmon and sour cream with french fries and salad. The salmon was okay and the bread was thick and good.

Croque Chicken (IDR 60.000): Croque of chicken breast with bechamel sauce, french fries and salad. The chicken was dry and tasteless, it’s nothing to brag about.

Chocolate Caramel Tart (35.000):  Valrhona chocolate ganache with caramel and pastry. For me the pastry was a bit too thick although overall it was good.

Mille Feuille Praline (IDR 40.000): Puff pastry with hazelnut creme.Again..the pastry layer was too thick and wasn’t crunchy like it was supposed to. It was a shame because the creme was superb.

Muriel (IDR 40.000): Vanilla bavaroise cream, Strawberry compote, Raspberry Cremeux, Pistachio biscuit. Lovely look, smooth texture, fantastic sweet and sour taste.

Coffee Panna Cotta (IDR 40.000): Coffee pannacotta with chocolate sauce.

After my try out of their menus, I think it’s a good idea to just stick to ordering desserts when you come here to Le Cafe Gourmand. And may I add that the Ice cream here is a Must Try!

I have to agree with you. Stick with the Desserts and the coffees. They have some of the best people behind the scene working on the coffee. Rodney from Seniman Coffee (Ubud, Bali) was one of their consultant if I’m not mistaken. Had a few cups there and never disappoint. =)

Thanks for the info Ruby 😀 I should try Seniman Coffee the next time I go to Bali 🙂
