It seems like I never ran out of restaurants to try in Grand Indonesia mall. Jim Padang is seated on the 5th floor, side by side with Jill In Marketbar. The place was quite empty when I was there. The concept of regular Padang food in a homey restaurant could be intimidating to some people, especially with nothing special/extraordinary about the food. Unlike the usual fast food style with plates of food stacking in front of you, you’ll have to order the dishes individually. The price is also more expensive than the other Padang eatery that we know of.
Lumpia de Garing (IDR 20.000): Fried Spring rolls.Nicely presented, pretty good and tasty too.
Ayam Panggang Bundo (IDR 20.000): Padang style spicy grilled chicken. The chicken is tender considering it’s a white meat but it wasn’t marinated well enough with the spicy sambal.
Ayam Pop (IDR 20.000) : Fried chicken that has been cooked in broth of coconut juice. Same problem here, the chickem was tasteless.
Rendang Daging (IDR 30.000): Coconut curry beef. The beef rendang was tender, tasty, overall it was pretty good.
Gulai Daun Singkong (IDR 20.000): Spicy Cassava leaves curry. I like It,the leaves were soft, cooked well and the curry sauce was rich.
Dendeng Balado (IDR 30.000) : Padang style beef jerky with chili paste on top.The beef was thin, light and crunchy just the way I like it.Too bad the chili paste was bland.
