Did you know that Hooters slang for women’s tatas 👀was made famous by Steve Martin in Saturday Night Live skit? Hooters restaurant was founded in 1983, and has since more than 430 locations and franchises all around the world. Their primary company image is playful sexy female servers with revealing outfits and that’s very much sums up the Hooters meaning. 😉
Hooters Jakarta is located in Kemang, right next to Tamani restaurant and a perfect location for the themed restaurant which has more expats consumerism than other places in Jakarta. It’s true that the waitresses wore more skimpier outfits than your average servers, but it’s still can be called a family restaurant with their familiar choices of American menu and friendly staff. This is also a perfect place for sports enthusiast. With their long list of alcoholic drinks, finger food, and load of televisions and projectors around, what more do you need? The one thing that I was concerned about was the lack of attentiveness on the service here. I still found dirty cutlery which is so unfortunate. The newly restaurant also obviously still struggles to run their pace, but I would give them another chance just thinking how fresh this eatery is.
What to order here? Their most famous Buffalo wings (Chicken wings) of course. I tried two types of them but only one suits my taste:
Boneless Wings with Hooters sauce (IDR 145.000/dozen): No bones, juicy tender white meat, the hand-breaded wings were crunchy, has the right balance of the Buffalo (Tabasco) flavor. It also comes with customizable heat profiles and a sauce of your choice. Mine was Ranch sauce. It was so good that we ordered two of these.
Original Wings with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce (IDR 145.000/dozen): Although the chicken wings were also nice, I wasn’t particularly fond of the Thai Sweet Chili sauce that they recommended. It was too sweet and overpowering.
Twisted Texas Melt Burger (IDR 165.000): Big beef patty with Hooters Daytona sauce, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, turkey bacon, served on Texas toast. The portion was huge, the beef patty was good, there’s the natural sweetness from the onions that played along with the sandwich.
Double D Burger (IDR 175.000): Aside from the pun intended name, this burger was super juicy, deep in flavor and had all the right elements. Double beef patty, topped with lettuce, tomato, onions and cheese. A single bite and I was blown away. One of the best burgers in town.
Smothered Chicken Sandwich (IDR 125.000): Grilled chicken breast with melted mozzarella cheese, sauteed onion, green peppers and mushrooms. Served on a toasted Brioche bun. Simple and mediocre sandwich.
My verdict for Hooters Jakarta was just okay, the food was average but in other hand the Chicken Wings and Double D burger was superb. I will definitely come back just for those two. Hoot Hoot!
