Cupcake Engineer – Singapore

Author: Sassy Eater.

Cupcakes are not everyone’s cup of tea. I consider myself lucky that cupcakes are totally mine.

The ones from Cupcake Engineer are my favorite. They pride themselves in using only natural ingredients and only add ingredients that boost the flavor of their cupcakes, such as their signature Swiss Meringue Butter Cream (SMBC) which is a light, airy, and heavenly frosting, exactly what I like from a cupcake. I like how they refrain from adding shimmering toppings that only serve to be aesthetically pleasing. So you won’t find any pretty sprinkles or over-the-top decorations here.

Some of their regular flavors are :
Ho ho ho Horlics (S$4), which is a Horlicks cake, with one Malteser on top and another one buried inside the cake.
Chocolate (S$4) which is a rich chocolate cake topped with Valrhona Chocolate Crunchy Pearls.
Bandung (S$4) which is -inspired by Bandung drink- a light fragranced rose flavoured cake with rose infused SMBC.

These three regulars are my Top Three Favorites! I can devour 3 cupcakes in one go, just accompanied by a cup of tea.

The cakes at Cupcake Engineer are not as moist as the others, but I find there is a sweet balance of the cake and the butter cream, that feels light, instead of dense, not overly sweet yet pleasing.

There are other flavours such as Vanilla-Vanilla, Vitamin C, PB+Banana, Hot Chocolate, Sweet Caramel, Salted Caramel, Gotcha Matcha and Mocha.  I tried all of them except the Gotcha Matcha, since I’m not a big fan of Matcha nor Red Bean.  And there are Limited Edition Specials, such as Durian, Coconut Gula Melaka, Banana Split, Nutty Nuttela, Tiramisu, Earl Grey Orange Blossom, and many more.

I’m so excited just saying these limited edition cupcakes one by one. So far I was lucky to try the Banana Split and the Coconut Gula Melaka. I’m more than eager to try their other Limited Edition cupcakes!
