Cassis – Jakarta

Author: Posh Eater

Cassis is a fine dining French restaurant that recently just been renovated. It’s a good thing since I remembered that the look was already kinda outdated, the last time I visited. As I stepped into the completely different foyer, the sight of a long table with fresh scented flowers welcomed me with grace. And may I say, love the new whimsical interior. The open spaced restaurant was transformed into a more sophisticated and classic look with more private rooms and separated area.

They also upgraded the menu, as I remembered. Old classic menu, along with the new appealing ones are now available.

Green Salad of Young Field Lettuces (IDR 96.000): Salad in mustard vinaigrette and fresh herb garnish. The artichoke slices were too sour when eaten individually, but it created a nice harmony when I ate it together with the crisp green veggies.

Onion Soup (IDR 86.000): Traditional french onion soup with baguette bread, gratinee with Comte cheese. One of my favorites in French dish and this one hit the right spot. Perfectly cooked wine, rich soup and delish cheese on the top makes a great soup.

Alascan Scallop (IDR 196.000): Creamy Risotto with Seared Alaskan Scallops, Jerusalem artichoke veloute and Piemont hazelnut. Even if this is actually an appetizer size dish, it’s delicious, rich and fulfilling for me. Love the perfectly seared scallops.

Steak Frites (IDR 276.000): Grilled Black Angus striploin, crisp fries, Bearnaise sauce with Tomato, eggs, shredded carrots and mesclum bouquet. Lovely presentation! I gave a plus for the tomato eggs side dish. Fantastic steak with tangy mustard sauce, that brought out the juiciness on the meat, on the side.

Chocolate Soufflé (IDR 158.000): Took 40 minutes to bake, but worth every second of it. Flambeed with XO Brandy added a spark to the simple presentation. Unfortunately, for a chocolate fanatic like me, the Brandy overwhelmed the cocoa taste. But the peppermint icecream made it worth while. I couldn’t get enough of it.
