As one of the most famous celebrity chef in the world, Gordon Ramsay is well-known for his perfection standard on in everything that he does. From his many TV shows such as Masterchef & Junior Masterchef US, Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell and others, he has reached the outmost popularity among the best of the best in the culinary business. His restaurant empires spreads all over the world, in UK,US, Canada, France, Italy, Australia, Tokyo, Dubai , South Africa, and the recent one just recently opened (precisely on September 2014) is in Hong Kong. As a fan myself, it’s natural that I made the time to visit this place,on my recent trip to HongKong. I think I watched Gordon Ramsay’s show too many time cause I was expecting the yelling and cursing that came out of the kitchen, but of course it was peace and quite there. There was no sign of Gordon Ramsay himself, the restaurant was dimly lighted with ambient romantic vibe, the interior was classic American style cafe with black and white tiles and leather booth seats. Because this is not a Gordon Ramsay’s fine dining restaurant, you won’t find his signature Beef Wellington on the menu (I know..I was dissapointed too). With the laid back, American diner style- mixed with European menu, this place more suited for family luncheon or relaxed dinner with friends without leaving the one thing that made Gordon Ramsay- The Gordon Ramsay..Perfection!
Scallops (HK $158): Seared scallops with carrot puree, treacle bacon, celery cress. I was expecting bigger scallops but after the first bite, it’s obvious that size doesn’t matter. The scallops were beutifully cooked, love the crunch you get from the bacon on top and the sweetness from the carrot puree..perfection.
Carabinero (HK$578): The special for the day: Giant prawns straight from Madrid, cooked and seasoned nicely, you can taste the freshness and the natural sweetness from the prawn itself.
Battered Barramundi (HK$ 208): with crushed peas and chips. Love the batter, the fish was super tasty to be eaten with the crushed peas.
Bread Street Kitchen Burger (HK$ 218): Short rib burger, Monterey Jack cheese and spicy Sriracha mayo. The beef patty melted in my mouth, it’s juicy and fabulous.
Ocean Trout (HK $218): Roasted ocean Trout, autumn vegetables and Chorizo cream. Gorgeous presentation, another perfectly cooked dish, the fish was tender inside and crunchy on the outside. The cream sauce has a strong taste without being overly done.
Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding (HK$88): with Muscovado caramel and clotted cream on top. My first impression of the dessert was it’s pretty basic looking, but the texture was nice with real chuncks of banana, real toffee goodness and yummy cream on top. What a wonderful way to end a perfect meal.
