Blue Grass-Closed & Moved

Author: Posh Eater

Another brand new-much hyped restaurant/cafe/bar in Jakarta with a catchy name: Blue Grass. But does it live up to the expectation? The design of the restaurant itself is quite an eye catching. A giant sliding patio door greets us at the entrance. The interior? Huge area of dimmed lighted-dark wooden minimalist interior with the view of the longest bar I’ve ever seen in Jakarta. No wonder this restaurant is one of the most famous hang out places in the city-right now.

We started the meal with Buffalo Wings: Fried chicken wings with tabasco: American style (available from medium-mild-spicy-killer). I think we should’ve ordered the spice/killer one, cause the mild one didn’t really impress me. But beside that, it’s a really good Buffalo Wings. The Nachos Supreme was nothing special. Puff Pastry Brie with Blueberry Sauce: Got to try this. Freshly baked puff pastry with rich Brie cheese filling, the salty-melt in your mouth snack plus the sweetness of Blueberry sauce, created a perfect appetizer. Bluegrass Clam Soup with Truffle Oil: Very creamy soup which consists of potatoes, clams. It’s a bit too creamy that I couldn’t taste the truffle oil :(. Asparagus Bacon Puff Pastry: Thin crispy pastry with slices of turkey bacon, eggs. Bluegrass’ Wings: Grilled chicken wings with BBQ sauce. Classic Caesar Salad: Very good dressing, fresh good quality of lettuce & cheese.

Baby Back Ribs: The winning main course of Blue Grass. Angel Hair Pasta with Jumbo Prawn, tossed in Cajun style: It’s delicious but I’d prefer it with more Cajun spices. Last but not least, the very famous Rainbow Cake: A Gorgeous colorful layered butter cake… Nice to look at, delicious lemon flavored on the first couple of bites… But it’ll leave you with that bitter not so good after taste of heavy food colorings. I don’t really recommend this for kids.

At the end of the day, Blue Grass really did make an impression that would make me want to come back for more.

Hi Urban Eaters, this site looks promising with the clean layout & drool-some photos! Anyway, I’d like to say hi & comment on the rainbow cake here at Bluegrass. I read in a magazine that it costs IDR 60k/portion! I was discussing with other blogger friends that this one is probably the priciest Rainbow Cake in Jakarta, but is it worth the price?
After reading your comment, I’m convinced now that it’s just a fad that’s worth trying once in your life.

Keep up your great work =)

Thank you! It’s great to have a fellow food blogger dropping by and giving such a kind feedback.
Nice knowing you Ellyna =)
