Japanese Ramen lovers, be prepare to lick your bowl clean! Bariuma Ramen from Japan has arrived in Jakarta. This Hiroshima native has more than 60 outlets all over Japan,Malaysia and Singapore. Now that it has opened in Jakarta, I’ve prepared my chopsticks and HUGE appetite to try their most famous Tonkotsu soup with homemade ramen. Located on the first floor of the super busy Citywalk Sudirman, Bariuma Ramen Jakarta restaurant has a clean simple look with enough space to accommodate plenty of hungry-fast paced people on busy lunch/any hour. Just a brief info about Tonkotsu, it’s thick broth made from boiling pork bones, fat, and collagen over high heat for many hours, which gradually spreads the broth with a hearty pork flavor and a creamy consistency that resembles gravy or melted butter texture. May I say, Bariuma’s Tonkotsu was worth the try, the soup is rich without the strong pork odor or the ‘sick’ after taste that I loathe. The other elements- like the homemade noodle- also played a strong part: flavorful and committed with the right firmness; the pork meat was fresh, tender and grilled to perfection. Overall : I would personally come back for more.
Ajitama-Uma (IDR 68.000): Pork flavored Shoyu soup with grilled thick-cut Chashu and flavored egg. The broth was superb, the noodle has a nice firm texture and the Chashu pork meat was marinated well.
Nori-Uma (IDR 68.000): Pork flavored Shoyu soup with grilled thick-cut Cashu and seaweed.
Kara-Uma (IDR 68.000): Pork flavored Shoyu spicy soup with grilled thick-cut Chashu. This one is perfect for those who love spicy food as much as I am. It’s the same soup with added chili oil.
Gyoza (IDR 68.000/10pieces): Bariuma’s chicken gyoza was made with added potato starch that resulted in crispier gyoza skin. The minced chicken filling has bold flavor and overall quite addicting.
Ishiyaki Chashu-Chaofan (IDR 45.000): Stone cooked fried rice with shredded Chashu and vegetables.
Aburi-Chashu (IDR 59.000): The marinated braised pork belly was succulent, tender and tasty without the strong pork ‘smell’. Delicious!
Spicy Karaage (IDR 39.000): Chicken Karaage with hot sauce. Could be super hot for some, but I like it even better. For me it stimulates the tastebuds and excites me rather than the usual boring fried chicken.
