Barbacoa Bali

Author: Chic Eater

After the culinary trip to El Kabron that day, I went back to seminyak for my dinner since my lodging at the time was in proximity to that area. I decided to try Barbacoa, a newly opened dining place on petitenget. The place looked mysterious to me and I happen to be easily enticed by perplexing things 😀

Upon entering the restaurant through a wooden-arch double doors around 8.30pm local time, it was packed with visitors mostly wearing tidier clothes than the usual casual beach attire. I would categorize it as fine dining establishment. The interior was rustic with high warehouse ceiling, red brick decorated walls, mosaic tiles and chopped woods, imparting a heavy rustic industrial mood. Well designed!

Skimming through the menu, I could see that their mains are revolving around BBQ and woodfire, charcoal grilled dishes. I ordered 2 tapas, 1 main and a sides.

Cuban Pulled Pork Slider (IDR 45,000) – with pickled red onion, aioli, tomato.
Braised Beef Brisket Corn Taco (IDR 35,000) – with pico de gallo, radish.
Both Tapas were nicely presented and neatly prepared. Liked it.

Charcoal Grilled Prawns (IDR 125,000) – served with guajillo chili marinade and avocado.
The prawns were flawlessly cooked. Nice texture and taste.

Spanish Style Fried Potatoes (IDR 55,000) – garlic aioli and chives. A great side dish to accompany grilled mains.

I have no regrets whatsoever selecting these dishes for my dinner.

Beverages to accompany this lavish dinner were:
Arawak (IDR 50,000) – pineapple, mango, passion, fresh lime
Undurraga Brut, a sparkling wine from Chile (by the glass IDR 100,000)

Agreeably, it is one of my favorite fine dining restaurants in Bali. You should try it if you are visiting seminyak.
