You know that feeling of tranquility that you get sometime from a place? I immediately got it upon entering Balique. I’ve always have a thing for antiques and this restaurant has a bunch of them decorating the place. The natural air surroundings is also as much as I expected, like many other Balinese restaurants. I do appreciate that, being a Jakarta resident-who almost never survive without air conditioning-myself. Balique is one of the 3 restaurant own by the owner of Bistrot Seminyak, the other one is Asam Garam Indonesian restaurant that I haven’t try yet. This one has many choices of food, from Italian, Indonesian to Western food.
First of all I tried on their Caesar Salad (IDR 85.000): Fresh Romaine lettuce with lovely Caesar dressing with anchovies that I could really taste. The added Cajun chicken was also a delight.
Grilled Red Snapper (IDR 140.000): Crushed baby potatoes, with salad and Lime Beurre Blanc. Beautifully cooked snapper, seasoned well too.
Mediterranean Burger (IDR 95.000): Rosemary and Lemon infused Beef burger, Rucola, Parmesan cheese, Olive oil, grilled burger bun and fries. This is one fantastic burger, the meat patty was super juicy with bold flavor, the burger bun was gorgeous with visible seeds on top, and the homemade fries were to die for.
Cajun Chicken Burger (IDR 95.000): Deep fried Cajun chicken with salad on the side. Another delicious burger, this time with flavorful chicken meat.
Penne Al Marinara (IDR 115.000): Penne pasta with Prawns and fish in white wine and tomato sauce. The pasta was overcooked, the tomato sauce was fresh but needed more salt for my liking. Overall it was just an average dish.
Balique’s interior took my breath away, the food was nice and memorable, hopefully I can revisit this beauty in my future Bali vacay.
