One of the oldest Korean restaurant in Jakarta has a new location and a whole new look. Arang 22 is now located, not far from it’s original place, behind Foundry 8,SCBD to be precise. The new place looks more modern and sleek, with tables instead of the traditional floor seatings and new single cooking table with the waitress cooking your meat, convenient for those who hates getting BBQ smell on their hair. The interior itself is very minimalist but typical K-BBQ included Korean traditional dancers murals and small but noticable trinkets such as the drums and paintings for decoration. When you step in the second floor, you’ll find a spacious function room for any kind for any special occasion. They really went all out this time. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten here and this loveable place has always known for it’s authentic Korean dishes and it has never failed to impress me.
Kalbisal (IDR 355.000): Marinated sweet Korean beef short ribs. So tender juicy with enough tallow that melts in your mouth.Yummy.
Jab Che (IDR 135.000): Sweet potato noodles, stir fried in sesame oil with vegetables, beef, and flavored with soy sauce, and sweetened with sugar. It was perfectly seasoned, sweet and savory at the same time, the noodle was deliciously chewy and light.
Soondubu Chige (IDR 78.000): A combination of meat, seafood, vegetables and the spicy seasoning, contrasted by the softness of soondubu (soft tofu). For me the taste wasn’t bold enough, although all the other factors were nice.
