During my latest visit to Singapore, I finally got a chance to drop by Boon Tong Kee to try out their infamous chicken rice. They have several branches throughout Singapore, but we went to the one on Balestier. The place is like typical small chinese eatery with the regular atmosphere of a Hongkong restaurant.

After we all agreed on what to eat, we ordered half portion of their signature steamed chicken and a plate of their special dish which is not on the menu. It was recommended by the waiter, which is ground pork with salted fish and veggies. At first bite, the chicken felt so tender and juicy, it made us want to eat more. Combined with the fragrant rice and the condiments, it did give us a quite complete and satisfying chicken rice for lunch. The pork was also quite delicious.
Overall, it’s a very good chicken rice and I would have to agree that Boon Tong Kee does live up to its reputation.
